Bungie management have steered Destiny towards greatness and also towards disaster. Sony has full control now, so we’ll see what they can do. I believe they want to invest and the multi-year roadmap will confirm that.

Pretty much debunked at this stage - at least the next 6 months are a write-off. The renegades activity is 3 gambit maps made when Joe Blackburn was there, edge of fate was the map built 2 years ago for the spinoff game payback, don't has given them almost no budget going forward & several sources Inc staff & Pete parsons himself say if marathon flops the studio doors close. Look at destiny right now, an upcoming extraction mode, to prep people for marathon. Upcoming marathon pre orders go live in January, & ALL the pre order bonuses are marathon themed items in destiny - so despite it not being for destiny players, & destiny having all-time low player numbers they're actively trying to push the current players to the new game - or rather they will be once renegades have been sold & there's nothing left to milk. Jason schrierer & Jeff grubb both spoke to Sony & bungie whistleblowers who said destiny is in its edge of life cycle now, this was a year ago & everything they leaked about edge & renegades was correct, & very low sales will confirm to Sony that they made the right decision to cut funds. It really does feel like end of life after renegades.....

I think there’s still plenty of life left in Destiny as an IP. My assumption is that Sony will have the same thought and want to invest long term. They haven’t revealed their hand yet. Leaks can sometimes be false, or partly false, and plans can change. The multi-year roadmap will give a much clearer indication of what they’re looking to do.

Oh i agree but don't you find it strange how it was promised 2 months ago & now it's 'sometime after new year's' which could be January thru march, & they only return to work the 3rd week of January. Marathon pre orders will be live & renagades sales numbers will be in, so id say Sony are waiting for the years profit/loss before allocating, or not, future budget for destiny - which doesn't inspire confidence does it. Edge sales were very low & renegades doesn't seem to offer much difference so it may sell ok bit I'm sure a lot already bought deluxe. Sony also said marathon could still be cancelled, which again sounded like an ultimatum to bungie to get it out by march or else. The D3 rumours i don't buy, stinks of am intentional leak to give the franchise a future, so people on the fence might buy renegades knowing there's a future potentially. If true, it's a 5-6 year build, & destiny 2 simply cannot last till 2030/31. A very big 3 months coming up for bungie - & this isnt even talking about the elephant in the room, all staff shares can be cashed in after April (or around then) & staff will leave, usually happens in buyouts, & the amounts are substantial, so bungie will look very different next summer cone what nay. I want it to continue, of course, but the signs are that it's on the brink, & every pointer suggests the same, every metric points downward & in business that means it's over, especially when the big boss is a company like Sony.

Yeah it is strange. There could be all sorts of stuff going on behind the scenes. My prediction (for what it’s worth) is D3 at some point. That was before the leaks, so not influenced by those. It could be that the long term goal is decided upon, but the D2 and Marathon plan is, understandably, not nailed down just yet. That’s partly why I have less confidence in D2 continuing indefinitely and more confidence in D3 some years away.
