I have already started a petition, but just in case it doesn't get traction and nobody from Bungie see's it, I will also post a version here.
With the coming Beyond Light DLC, many beloved events, activities, locations, and missions will be vaulted away for an undetermined amount of time.
Bungie has stated they are doing this because the game is becoming "bloated" and too much to manage on the platform. While this is indeed a large pill to swallow as is, I believe that Bungie should at the very least keep the campaigns accessible through the in-game directory.
Its unfair to the new players to have missed a very (very) large portion of the overall story. I believe keeping the campaigns can easily be achieved, although I have no experience in programming or game development. With core story locations involving the main campaign being vaulted, I think bungie should allow us to return to the locations to do the mission (and only those missions). No room for side tracking, no room for exploring outside the mission area, no convenient public events, no planet specific people you can talk to (after the mission is over). Nothing except the mission itself.
While I'd personally prefer the vaulting not happen at all (as I'm sure many of you would prefer aswell), this is my idea of a solution to Bungie if there is a chance to keep campaigns.
For me, this is a tad bit more personal. My fiance loves to play games. She has her entire life but only recently has she been able to fully explore what's out there in the game world. Until fairly recently she would mostly play Sims.
Unfortunately, she is currently deployed in Afghanistan and will not be home until long after the Beyond Light DLC drops, and half the game vanishes. She enjoys hearing me talk about games, and as a matter of fact, that's how she discovers more games she might like. She had never even heard of Destiny before until I brought it up. She would sound excited the more I talk about the game to her, yet ever since I told her what is happening with the vaulting, she takes it as a bitter sweet talk that she will never even get the attempt to try the game and indulge in it's story.
Thank you for your time, and I hope you sign this petition!
