My parents told us that Santa was fake from the start, and I grew up BAFFLED at why so many parents thought it was okay to just make it up and lie to their kids about it.
Like why? I get that it’s fun and all, but you’re LYING to your kids.
I guess it does deflect the blame if they don’t like the gifts or didn’t get what they want. But still.
