When do you think is the right age to tell a kid Santa is fake? Like, why would you make up shit about some magic dude who breaks into homes? there’s literally no point in doing this, at least in my opinion. it just makes kids believe in delusions when it’s much better to just say “here’s the xbox we bought you”. like, i would’ve loved my dad way more if he said “we bought you skyrim because you wanted it so bad” instead of “you’ve been a naughty boy this year, surprised Santa would give a kid like you a rated m game” (true story).
What’s your opinion? When should kids be told about this?

My parents never told me that Santa existed. A big reason is that my Nana would put "Santa" on a couple presents, and a friend had a complete room renovation from "Santa". I guess my parents didn't want me to wonder what I did wrong to not get a gift that expensive. That, and they thought that it was silly.

The right age is to tell your children is the day they can speak! If you're lying about Santa what else are you lying about? As a parent you should promote trust, and honestly I grew up "without Santa" I literally missed nothing

I think I believed in Santa for a week. It had no impact in hiw much I looked forward to Christmas or the presents. I think. I have no way to validate that objectively.

1 commentaireLol you literally just answered your question

3 commentairesShit, let kids have magic as long as they can, this world has too many -blam!-ed up things in it to steal the magic early. Kids need to be kids and they need to believe in magic.

Plenty of adults believe in fairy tales too. It’s just a matter of which fairy tales are for adults and which ones are “only for kids”. Honestly I have a three year old now and the Santa thing does make me uncomfortable knowing I’m telling her lies. It feels uncomfortably like religion. I’ll probably keep letting her believe it because “society” and because it’s mostly harmless. But when she gets older and starts to question it I absolutely will tell her the truth.

You must be 13 or older to have a bungie.net account.

2 commentairesMy parents told us that Santa was fake from the start, and I grew up BAFFLED at why so many parents thought it was okay to just make it up and lie to their kids about it. Like why? I get that it’s fun and all, but you’re LYING to your kids. I guess it does deflect the blame if they don’t like the gifts or didn’t get what they want. But still.

1 commentaireYou realize people under 13 can’t be here Also I don’t know any twelve year olds that know Santa I don’t know any twelve year olds

You shouldn't have posted this, boog, I mean, burly won't be able to see it
-
You don't want to know what Santa is when Christmas is over.
-
If my parents told me Santa was real, I doubt I’d trust them in the future.
-
my parents never told me about santa just so they didn't have to tell me he didn't exist.
-
kids talk to kids about Santa. they tell each other he is fake around the age 10. #nature
-
My parents never told me about Santa so I’m not really an expert. I’m gonna say never, though, you want them to be a good person JUST so they’ll get gifts, instead of being a good person because they should be? Also, then they’re heartbroken when they find out, for whatever reason.
-
Daddy told me that Santa is real if I believe hard enough.
-
Pretty sure in most cases kids figure it out eventually so let em have fun till with it till they find out. I mean I guess if they are 25 and wondering why their apartment isn't full of presents you might wanna tell them, but I like to think most people end up connecting the dots around their teenage years.

1 commentaireModifié par LeGrandMonsieur : 7/3/2019 2:44:31 AMWait, what, why are you telling lies. How an he be fake when he brought me a car just a few years ago. It had a big bow and everything and was in the driveway Christmas morning. If you keep saying things like this you are likely to get a lump of coal next Christmas.

I found out when i was 4. I woke up Christmas Eve to go to the bathroom and found my mom and dad putting the presents down

They should be told about it when they’re “older”
