What Senator Sanders doesn't and won't mention is that Vermont passed a version of "single payer" or universal health care in 2011, only to have it scrapped by their governor in 2014. The reason - the state budget couldn't handle it.

He technically addressed it in the town hall, but in a typical politician way of dismissing it. Which I'm personally fine with because it's definitely a funny gotcha point but not one that has any real insight.

Sure, but it seems fairly obvious that state and federal budgets aren't the same thing-- there's a lot you can learn from the laboratories of democracy, but it's not super relevant here. If you want to be informational but also rhetorically effective, then you can just say M4A more or less doubles the federal budget. If you want to be funny and aren't really trying to make Serious Points, which is fine, then you can point out that Bernie's own home state couldn't pass M4A. As to Bernie being a liar, I'm not saying he didn't sell you a broken VHS player on eBay or something, but his untruths in this case seem to skew towards underestimating the cost of his own plan, instead of not telling people that everyone's taxes would go up, which he does fairly often.

Or grossly over estimating AND overstating the issues that he seeks to tackle. Whether this is malicious is up to you, but in the interest of political gain he has embellished often... nothing funny about it.

Here's Trumps^ they are not kind to him, and you are deliberately and willfully ignorant in that case. If you read one single example you would know that he overstates everything for political gain. Did you follow any of the links to any of the articles they cited? Or did you glance over it once and go... meh, short list... no further perusing necessary... Your name suits you; a pulitzer prize winning organization is commonly thought of as credible.

It made me giggle that 2 of the 15 false statements are related to the the Valley News endorsement, which is apparently an extremely big deal 4.
