What I wanna know is how the hell this passed testing. Who at bungie thought a 90% DR would be perfectly balanced.

it is perfectly balanced, slowly drains melee energy, cant pick up ammo, cant revive, cant attack, and still vulnerable to suspend, freeze, suppress etc. the rift thing was a bug i believe, and needs to be fixed, the aspect is fine outside the rift bug.

You can spawn unlimited threadlings with a DoT effect and could melee out of WW without an animation. It had offensive capability. I think the melee thing with glaives is why it got disabled.
-
The melee with Glaives is confirmed to be a bug and the unlimited treadlings aren't viable in PVP unless you're running No Time To Explain. The threadings only attack as long as you can keep a DoT going. Or if you can keep attacking with No Time To Explain's ability. So the the aspect doesn't really have any viable offensive capabilities within PVP unless you're running a specific set-up.

Requiring a specific setup means that it exists. And they are more than enough to get kills on their own. No Time is also a very good PvP weapon. By no means saying is top tier, but the argument of not being able to fight back doesn't exist when you can. If the glaive thing gets fixed I don't see any real issues with it in PvP right now. Other than it's guaranteed wins for Rift.

Just because something requires a specific set-up doesn't mean it's viable. Not everyone has No Time To Explain and most guardians are dead in PVP before you get a DoT going. Weapons like Osteo, Thorn, and Witherhoard are great options for DoT's but this doesn't work in PVP because the DoT doesn't have enough time to stick before the guardian is dead. So the argument of not being able to fight still stands. It also isn't a guaranteed win on Rift. Just because you've got 90% damage reduction doesn't mean you can get killed. The weavewalk only lasts as long as your melee has charges AND you can still get suppressed, frozen, etc. The aspect is great but it's more meant as a defensive retreat option in PVP instead of an offensive one. Not even the combination of launching all your threadlings while using your rift is a viable option because you'll get killed the second you pop a rift. You might trade with a guardian because of all the threadlings you sent at them but it still isn't a viable option. As a matter of fact, I think the aspect is perfect as it is ( except the Glaive bug ). This aspect really throws off some people and it allows you to pressure them into making mistakes. It can even allow you to survive supers because it makes you extremely mobile.

Wether it needs a setup or not is irrelevant. It's a FACT that it's got offense. Saying that it's counterable with specific setups means that a specific setup to have offense is equally right to say. Don't try to say one is true and the other isn't. Any competent team will be able to basically guarantee wins for Rift off of 90% DR. Especially because you can tank a lot of super damage when going for a Dunk. Casting a rift is plenty viable if you aren't stupid when you set it off. The threadlings travel FOREVER to find people. But with all that being said, after the glaive bug is fixed, I don't see it being an immediate issue that would need attention. Over the course of a season, if the win rate is sky high, then yeah they could come back to it.
