How would you recommend that SBMM be correctly implemented in your scenario? For simplicity's sake, let's rank your team of three on a scale from 1 - 10, with you being a 7, and your two team mates 4's.
Would you prefer to have an identically matched team, 7-4-4 vs 7-4-4? So that you could roll the two poorer players on the other team while their good player rolled your two poor players?
What about an average of the team total? 15 vs 15? So your 7-4-4 against a team of 9-3-3 would be fair, right? Or 7-4-4 vs 6-6-3? Would that be fair?
In either scenario, who is this 'fair' for? I'm guessing it's not the 4's or 3's, so how would you recommend making this [i]feel like[/i] SBMM for those players? From their POV it's just more CBMM...

Yeah, in a game like Destiny it's very hard to balance teams that are themselves unbalanced. If both teams have a good player and a bad player, ideally you'd have the good players face each other and the bad players face each other and everyone has fun. But that's not how it works out: In reality, the good players will [i]avoid[/i] each other while farming the opposing weak link for kills. The game structure makes this the [i]smart[/i] strategy. I think there's a lot that could be done with voluntary handicaps, but those seem to be a taboo subject.

I'm Guessing that you are hiding your stats so you don't show how sweaty you are. There aught to be a Tutorial mode for the new light beginners. If I had a couple of people that had at least played a few full games to understand the basics then I would have just ate it. These guys were brand spanking new to the game. I thought they were resets at first but when I checked, that was a big nope.

If there is an experienced player with them then have him go into the tutorial mode to teach them as well. The tutorial wont count for any glory. The way I learned was that I had 2 friends go into a private match and teach me then brought me into a survival match and work with me there. They were legendary and taught me a lot. Kind of like the way raids used to be guided if you wanted.
