Freelance survival:
Opposing team All legend rank and over 200 season level
My team Me Brave III season level 167 My team mates Both guardian I and season level 2 (Brand new to the game)
Go figured we got hammered 4 to 0. I was the only one to get kills. Came out a .40 KD after match (Lucky kills on my part). Other 2 got 0,0,0
This is why I am such an advocate for SBMM. For reasons like this.
Getting my ass handed to me like this makes it no fun to play. For all of you that whine that CBMM is better STFU! All you want to do is make yourselves feel better by stomping on the little guy rather than playing against guys that just might be better than you. So you have to wait a few to get into a game. The way I would look at it is that the game is trying hard to find an equal match to play with. The longer it takes the better know you you are. If it seems to take to long for you, try another activity.

1 ReplyMatchmaking isn't supposed to fix matches in your favor. It's there so you have people to make the gamemode work. People really be giving SBMM too much credit. All it does is look at PVP stats like K/D, Win/Loss ratio or anything related and matches you solely based on those stats. All you'd have to do is lose a couple of games on purpose and you're matched into easier games. That's it.

see all the downvotes. from upper skill players. they want to keep matching low skill players.
-
3 RepliesSBMM is a cancer in games. So terrible. I am happy that it's gone. What a horrible thing to add into a casual pvp game mode.
-
1 ReplyIt is sbmm though. It should be cbmm as cbmm is superior.
-
1 ReplySBMM killed coldwar and most of d1. It need not kill again.

32 RepliesEdited by Haunter: 3/25/2021 12:49:56 PMSurvival is sbmm, thanks for showing everyone that sbmm players cant even tell the difference when it's on or off but just complain and blame the mm regardless.
Getting my ass handed to me like this makes it no fun to play. For all of you that whine that CBMM is better STFU!
Or you can stfu, stop blaming mm and improve like everyone else that is good today did.
All you want to do is make yourselves feel better by stomping on the little guy
All you want is participation trophies where the game dumbs down opponents to your level rather then playing everyone else like we all did.
rather than playing against guys that just might be better than you
So ironic - the guy crying for a safe space against better players is complaining about others he things do not want to play better players. Heres the reality: under cbmm you can play anyone, so the pro cbmm crowd are fine with who ever they match up against - worse, equal or better which is exactly the way a casual mode should work. It's you who wants better players removed from possibly matching you, not gonna happen where 6vs6 is concerned.
So you have to wait a few to get into a game. Comp is sbmm. Your argument is null and void.
-
4 RepliesComp is Glory based. This isn't a good case unless you're wanting them to not use your rank for a ranked game mode?
-
Imagine what it was like for those two noobies. "Oh cool this game seems fun" "Yeah these weapons and abilities are super cool" *Plays 1 round of PvP, gets murdered because this game caters to its 1% by farming out new lights to them like child sacrifices* I wonder how much longer those two will last before they leave and this game's pop gets even lower.
-
1 ReplyHere is a brutal game that happened to me. This is why SBMM needs to be implemented on some level. This is why people are leaving PvP in droves. Granted this is a Mayhem game but damn! Bungie, please look into the MM aspect of your PvP. IT SUCKS!
-
What you’re saying is sbmm lmao When I go into comp I’m so lucky I get the two new light timmys and then the other team are by fate average joes on one team so literally it’s 3v1 for me a 3.2 sweat god. FU*K SBMM!

Edited by Machine_DNA: 3/25/2021 11:56:12 AMSBMM kills the crucible. Same games, same opponents, severe lag and no way to know you’re improving. Your match seems like a Libby balancing issue and that’s something that needs addressing. If we could get a team of 6 with 2 high skill, 2 medium skill and 2 lower skill players to face the same then I don’t see why this would be an issue? Players against one or two really good players can help you improve and at least you’d be able to see that improvement. In SBMM you likely go between a 1.0-1.5 each game unless you play for KD. The people popping off will be the ones with the biggest latency.
-
35 RepliesSBMM already failed twice, not coming back, when SBMM is in on people don’t play
-
Comp should be RBMM.
-
1 ReplyThe issue I can see is that if all members of a team are in a fireteam it won't divide them across the teams. Which makes Bungies new attempt at balancing teams better a moot point.
-
6 Repliesthey made a change for matchmaking today maybe this will be better

5 RepliesSome people in your thread are disputing whether comp and iron banner has skill matchmaking. Not in comp. Not in any playlist. As per the TWAB "Removed Skill Based Matchmaking listing from the Iron Banner tooltip – it has been using Connection-Based Matchmaking, along with the rest of the Crucible, since June of 2020. " https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/50102

SBMM is in survival. But the population is so small in that playlist it probably can't handle outliers, on the high or low end, at all. But historically people haven't been ready to have that conversation. They insist that splitting the playerbase was the best idea...
-
1 ReplySBMM is in the survival playlist
-
How's this a case for SBMM? Survival is literally the only mode in the game that uses SBMM. So your poor experience in that mode is a prime example of how SBMM doesn't work.
-
Read the twab maybe you’ll have better luck now

Go read the TWAB

2 RepliesSBMM all the way. I either get matched with people better than me or people that I stomp on. I prefer the former as I would rather be challenged every match. Currently it’s like I’m a god for three or four matches and then I am an insignificant speck in the realm of elite try Hards for three or four matches after that. I want to get better and the only way that’s gonna happen is by matching my skill level and above.

Edited by Insatiable: 3/25/2021 6:41:37 PMNah. Look at how SBMM ruined cod . Series was dogshit before , this was the massive nail in the coffin . Also survival already has sbmm. Just not many play it currently bc the playlist is kinda dead.
-
4 RepliesDo you even know if you were properly matched by rank? You only mention that of you and your team
-
you all should be arguing that bungie needs to switch to dedicated servers over peer to peer connection then we can actually have a logical discussion over sbmm and cbmm because with p2p neither work good
