http://www.tweaktown.com/news/58062/bungie-explains-destiny-2-runs-30fps-consoles/index.html
Its not that Bungie wanted to do 30 fps, its that the worlds that they built and the stuff put into them was too much for console to handle. PC is the way to go for FPS issues.
As for Dedicated Servers, some games have them, some games don't. Will a hybrid system work best? Who knows, we'll have to wait and see. During the Beta connection issues were minimal for me. Will there be lag? Of course. There is in every multiplayer game. Also factor in SBMM. It makes issues seem way worse. So chill out.

There are bigger games than destiny doing 60frames on the consoles, destiny is simply a weak ass game lol. Keep in mind I don't even care for frames, but I'm more interested in why they don't care for dedicated servers.
-
I wish they had dedicated servers, but Activision is just as culpable for the blame as Bungie. If you don't think Bungie wants to put everything they can in their games, you don't know Bungie. But when you make a deal, you have to follow it. Activision has partial control on what they can and can't do, so they are as just as much to blame. I'm sure Bungie has learned from this and luckily won't have to make any more deals to get a new franchise off the ground next time.

The hybrid will be fine for pve, but really bad for pvp. Especially the comp mode, since really the most important thing (your own character location) is determined by your console and your console has the authority over the physics host. This means that lag switching can happen, or if someone has a slow upload speed but a fast download speed then they might appear to randomly teleport and kill you

Edited by Snowfire: 8/18/2017 3:00:16 PMIf you read the weekly update from a few months ago, they specifically said the physics host will be on Bungie's side now, not player consoles. The exact quote:
So why no dedicated servers? Matt: Every activity in Destiny 2 is hosted by one of our servers. That means you will never again suffer a host migration during your Raid attempt or Trials match. This differs from Destiny 1, where these hosting duties were performed by player consoles and only script and mission logic ran in the data center. To understand the foundation on which we’re building, check out this Destiny 1 presentation from GDC. Using the terms from this talk, in Destiny 2, both the Mission Host and Physics Host will run in our data centers.
He is definitely lying. Duh.

It's about PvP. They could easily make PvP 60FPS due to the small maps and 4v4 only. Dedicated servers, 60FPS and a 60/60Hz Tickrate and everything would be MUCH better. They're just cheap and lazy, that's all.
-
Don't buy it, show you have the fortitude and willpower to resist their blatant laziness and uncaring for your needs. See next month... lol.
-
I don't buy the game for PvP. PvP in Destiny was cool for the first year. Now I don't give a shit about it and D2 is even worse...so PvE only.
-
The MOST people I've seen complaining about 30 fps is that it is difficult to swap back and forth between a 60 fps and a 30 fps game, and here you are trying to put them in the same game....
-
Gears of War did it, Halo did it. Not a big problem. The real problem with 30FPS is playing PvP with it.
-
Don't make me laugh. Destiny isn't that intensive.
-
The Dev's words, not mine. Believe what you want, because you obviously know more than Bungie does.
-
I know that if they used dedicated servers to load a bulk of the data hitting 60fps would be a cake walk.
-
Lol, load it into what? You don't even know wtf you are talking about? Are you talking about the graphics data? You think streaming the graphics data (ie maps, occlusions, lighting data, etc...) streaming over a network will make it faster? I mean really?
-
Sure man, that's exactly what I said. Go ask your teacher to explain it to you. Also if you are a networking major you'd be all for dedicated servers because they are better at almost everything compared to p2p and there is no downside to them having their map preloaded on a dedicated server.
-
If you had any ability to comprehend what you are reading then you would know I'm not saying anything about dedicated servers being good or bad. Just the weird and frankly ignorant idea that all of the graphical data, along with the already bandwidth hogging player/physics data is going to somehow make this game run at 60fps.

Edited by dnrobs: 8/19/2017 6:48:54 AMYet halo 5 is 60fps on an Xbox one., also the guy is right dedicated servers would help. They talk about this rich physics yet there's barely anything on the screen, 10 baddies at most.

Edited by MojoPin: 8/19/2017 9:07:59 AM
Yet halo 5 is 60fps on an Xbox one.
The fluttering dynamic resolution that they have to use to achieve that makes it look bad in many places. I'm sure your eyes will say "different" just to re-enforce your "point", so here, an independent source: https://www.polygon.com/2015/10/27/9620600/halo-5s-constant-60fps-comes-at-a-price
also the guy is right dedicated servers would help.
It wouldn't help the game run at 60 FPS, this has been discussed and if you don't have anything to back your claim up then I'd quit trolling, because that's all you are doing without evidence. On top of that, you want the already bogged down network (yellow bar galore) to add more data? I mean really? Do you even Destiny? lol...
-
Edited by dnrobs: 8/19/2017 5:47:11 PMNone of that bothers me, I'll go to minimum settings or even lower the res to get 60 on a pc. I have to do it on pubg it's so badly optimised.
-
I doubt you'll have any real problems running at or near (even on ultra) 60fps on a mid powered PC at 1080p. I am currently using a Razer Blade and it has a 1060 6gb in it with a i7 7700HQ, and I'm almost positive I'll be at 60fps with everything on. But we'll for sure next week.
-
Edited by dnrobs: 8/19/2017 7:42:49 PMOver the top on the cpu? I5 7500 would be a perfect match for the 1060. You could stream and hit 60 most probably.
-
Yeah, it's the MacBook equivalent of a PC gaming laptop so I will know if I get any slowdown, it isn't because of the CPU really. ;) It's handles everything like a charm. Even runs Witcher 3 with absolute everything on (hair works etc...) at a rock solid 30 FPS when you lock it. Unlocking it will cause it to run at 38-55 fps but it does dip back and forth a lot so I had to lock it at 30 so that it would be consistent. That game is no joke when it comes to working your PC.
-
Edited by dnrobs: 8/19/2017 7:48:27 PMMobile parts will make a difference but the recommended specs says i5 2400 you'll easily top that its 6 years old.
-
Tfw most MMO's already do this.
I know that if they used dedicated servers to load a bulk of the data hitting 60fps would be a cake walk.
Yeah, I'd learn a bit more about software, graphics and networking before commenting any further buddy.
