Freelance should be the way completely for Trials.
Add some randomize load outs, maps and modes to the mix and boom, it is Trials in a nutshell.
The only time you should see a team is when you are in a team with other players. 2+1 = 2+1.
It is literally common sense and Bungie doesn’t get it.
Bungie only seems to care about the competitive side versus every single player who plays the game. Don’t get me wrong, Trials should be difficult but not miserable.

Want to know why bungie only care for the competitive players? It’s because trials is a competitive game mode where you compete for 7 wins/ lighthouse. Freelance practically destroys the competition due to you not being able to form team play or even play with people in general. Real competitions or tournaments don’t have people put at teams on random as that’s just not fair in the grand scheme, you find a team and have the mentality to beat other team no matter how good. Freelance is an excuse for bad players to get easy games which is sometimes ok but not the solution bungie should take. If you care so much about winning find a team and improve I myself went from 0.9 kd in trials to now 1.6+ overall so improvements can be made

Trials isn’t competitive. Why do you all keep saying that?? Trials is a over glorified game mode. The idea of winning 7 matches straight is a competitive but not the entire concept as a whole. Everybody in this game is an individual player by default and to force players into a team to compete against other teams doesn’t signify individual skill but team effort. Players can form teams all day everyday but if one team never puts down the controller versus a team who does, obvious the team who never stops is going to win ie consistency in practice. There is a reason why my KD is higher in QP then in Trials. I don’t play Trials nor Comp because it isn’t a game mode for me nor doesn’t expresses a fun atmosphere. Trials needs to be freelance by default but when you launch in with a team, you are guaranteed to face another team. The structure is flawed especially for how teams are orchestrated.

Wanting solos to play stacks is a bad excuse for wanting easier flawless runs. When stacks see solos on the roster do you think they're saying this is gonna be competitive or were about to get a free win. Stacks against stacks, solos against solos is literally as fair as it gets. Stacks gatekeeping solos and resetting their cards to stay away from the flawless pool isn't competitive its toxic
-
Gatekeeping literally can't exist. Everyone wants to win, just because a better team rolled a lower team doesn't mean they did it to keep you from the Lighthouse. You both wanted a win, you lost, and they won. That's not gatekeeping. By definition. You'll have to accept that my guy
-
Ok fair enough maybe it's not done specifically to stop others but stacked teams resetting their cards too stay out the lighthouse all weekends and farming solos to raise their KD and whatever else there trying to do is at its base toxic bs and shouldn't be possible in the most competitive game mode. Stacks think trials is good now. Take away solos and what do you have left, things will go right back to the way they were
-
Stacks hate the Flawless pool dude. There's no reason to play in it. It's triple the work for the same rewards as little Jimmy who's got a 0.4 and needs a carry. Why would anyone want that? It's dumb. If they removed flawless pool from regular matchmaking. And then left it in Freelance, it would let solos have their fun in Freelance and stacks could run cards all weekend long. That's the smart way
-
Irony must be lost on you with this response. So players hate the flawless pool because it gives them challenging matches and they want the same as little Jimmy with the 0.4. Yet you don’t bother to recognize that little jimmy with the 0.4 gets nothing but challenging, if not impossible to win matches, and doesn’t get to face others like themselves on the regular. This type of hypocrisy is astoundingly common with trials advocates. A whole lot of people that should not be involved in game design.
-
I stated the easiest way to fix it. So everyone gets to run stuff to their liking without criss crossing player skills. Buy you can ignore that if you want
-
Probably the best suggestion iv heard but won't happen.
-
Nope. Sure won't. It's too smart of an idea to be considered
