I feel like even if they buffed auto rifles thorn will still reign supreme. Why? Thorn is pretty much a guaranteed two shot headshot kill every single time, which is why I personally think it's better than hawkawesome especially when you factor in thorn's higher RoF as well.
I think a slight nerf for thorn is appropriate, but nothing too major. Maybe Bungie could make it so the lingering damage over time has a 40-50% chance to trigger with each shot, and perhaps make the damage drop off slightly more prevalent at range or slightly increase the trigger delay between each shot. I hate to see weapons get nerfed, but it seems like thorn is next up based off of the responses to ToO.

The lingering chance I agree with but not damage part I use thorn but most people that use it are noobs and can't hit I sometimes use my strangers rifle which I think is best pulse rifle in game if only I could ascend it then I'd use it in trials
