If you had no cap you could obtain all the guns and upgrades you could by playing nonstop all the time. By having limits bungie slows your progression.

Ok. Aside from compensating for the level of content, what reason is there for slowing my progress?
-
You never need to buy everything. I can easily get 300 marks a week with my three characters in Crucible and Vanguard in three days time (7 hours a day). There is no reason to have a cap, it literally does nothing but impede an already crap progression system.
-
I'm okay with the slowing progression I just think they went a tad too far with it.
-
Not sure when u started playing but the grind has been made easier although more costly since day one. Marks for mats etc. Some people would play the game 24/7 and obtain everything and maybe they should allow that but, they don't. They want you to be under control. I agree with you though. I don't consider myself a gamer. I don't think I put in overly excessive time in the game and can complete all reset material weekly and max my marks out. Perhaps loosening the grip a bit would be a good thing.

Yea I've been playing since September and it definitely got better. I'm the other end and I can cap out Vanguard marks by Thursday, easily.
-
I am not saying what you do is wrong, everybody should play the game the way they want. And from your post I dont really know if you try hard to get all marks by thursday or if you just progress normally and get it on the way. That being said. At first I tried really hard to get all the marks really quickly. But I only ended up not getting any marks for everything I did afterwards until tuesday. So now I have a better strategy, progression management. I do the nightfall, the weekly heroic, I do events when I see them, I do events when I do bounties, I do the daily heroic etc. When tuesday approaches I take a look at how many marks I need till I reach the cap. (I check on sunday) Then I play to get the marks I need on either sunday or monday so I have a minimum amount of actual grinding for marks. I found this is a very rewarding and relaxed way to do it.
-
That's basically my plan aswell.
-
Oh I rarely bother getting them at all anymore, I can remember more than one occasion where I had all Vanguard marks by Thursday though.
-
I see! Yeah I still need some of the gear that is sold... Not there yet :(
-
Yea when I got the game in September from level 20-27/28 all I did was Strikes, so I hit the cap pretty quick. Its also why I never play strikes now because I grinded them all to death early on. I deleted my Warlock, was 32, but that character had most of my strike stats. Lawlz I got it to 32 and decided I hated playing as my Warlock.

What I do like is bungie using millions of guardians data to make changes based on the data. Not just elite or scub users but all users and the empirical data derived from actual gaming. That does take time to mine and ensures gross errors are not made. I think by sept of this year changes will have to be made as new players will be so far behind in gear and experience they may not catch up to day one users, but if they raise some of the caps new players could catch up as old players don't need the materials like noobs do. Just my 2 cents
-
I thought they stated that the latest changes were determined from how they chose to interpret the data of the top 1k or so.
-
Your 2 cents sounds pretty accurate and possible.
