I actually only tried once myself, and I don't recall trying to jump on the little ledge. I'm not sure how my two other teammates attempted to get up there. None of us tried for very long, because once the adds and Valus showed up, we just focused on them. I think I may have only attempted one leap, and my teammates might not have tried more than that either. I may try the ledge you mention if I do it again later this week, out of curiosity. Thanks for pointing that out. In the end, though, I don't think it's really too important to get up there. I don't find the Valus NF to be too difficult to beat when staying down on the floor and being alert to what he and the adds are doing.
