Did someone poop in her coffee? It's fine to ignore people, but when someone compliments you and tells you to enjoy the rest of your day, don't be a beezy about it.

You don't owe people a response... The fact that people feel entitled to one because they spoke to her is messed up.
-
It's just a nice gesture, she could've at least been courteous.

Well, for one the experiment was to silently walk through NYC; for two she doesn't have to reply. One way to try to avoid confrontation with shady characters is to keep walking and this video shows something that happens if you do that. Nobody owes you a conversation, particularly when you're interrupting their traveling to try and make one. It's sad that some people feel entitled to a response.

> shady people > minorities Oh you..

If I'm trying to go somewhere, why should I have to stop and acknowledge/talk to you, especially if I don't know you? It's not rude to refuse a conversation with a stranger, especially if you don't trust/know that person.

And I'm canadian so maybe it is just our culture to hold the door or say to someone it's nice weather outside etc. The only people I meet like the way you explain are uptight Im better than everyone else attitudes. Most of the time these people live miserable lives working 9-5 living in the busy city and die of heart attacks because their blood pressure is constantly high. The generation of today is so insecure. I could understand walking though the slums but holding the door being polite should just come second nature. Female or not.

Yeah, I suppose I should clarify a bit. It's different in a small town. I regularly smile and wave to everybody I see when I walk too... But I see one, maybe two people at the most. It's different if every time you go walking you're routinely surrounded by people and every trip you make has people saying things like in the video to you. I'm not saying all greetings are bad either, but you gotta figure from the catcalling guy's perspective he's one person saying "hey sexy!" And it's done. From the girl's perspective she potentially hears this every time she goes out somewhere from multiple people. Again, socializing isn't bad. Those who really mean to just say "hi" aren't doing anything wrong. Still, there are a lot of inconsiderate people out there and steeling one's self becomes necessary.

True. Everybody knows only two things come from Texas so she should be safe. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
