Noncommittal, naturally, but notice what it doesn’t say. Normally I’d expect to hear “Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation,” the boilerplate answer for the vast majority of reports. It leads me to believe there might be some truth in it.
Video game journalism at its finest. An entire article based on what Microsoft DIDN'T say. Shame that Forbes went from being a respected publication to a crowdsourced blognews site that is arguably less reliable and less ethical than even HuffPo.

I've learned to never trust non-gaming publications when it comes to video games. Just try to read the Wall Street Journal's review of Borderlands 2, and let me know how it goes.

  • No offense, but are you even serious with this? The Wall Street Journal is arguably the most ethical and reliable news source in the world right now. Video game publications are among the least, in both categories. Just because you don't like what a reviewer has to say (or even his writing style) about a video game doesn't make the source non-trustworthy. That seems like the most backwards thinking.
Just because you don't like what a reviewer has to say (or even his writing style) about a video game doesn't make the source non-trustworthy.
I disagree. If a publication clearly doesn't give a damn about a subject, that's a strike to their credibility.
The Wall Street Journal is arguably the most ethical and reliable news source in the world right now.
Not when it comes to technology. See the correction for this article:
An earlier version of this article incorrectly said that the higher resolution Retina displays of the new iPad and forthcoming Macbook Pro computers would increase consumption of network bandwidth, thus slowing performance of corporate networks.
That's a 'series of tubes' level of incompetence.
but this isn’t the type of deeply engrossing FPS game the headset-wearing COD crowds gather to play months and months after release. In comparison, I read on several sites that COD: Black Ops 2 will feature up to six teams, for a total of 18 simultaneous players, in multiplayer mode.
It sounds like he's not even that interested in FPS games, unless it's Call of Duty.
I had to go back to Wikipedia descriptions of the original game to remember all the intricate twists and turns of the Borderlands backstory
He makes amateurish writing gaffes, such as admitting to reading up on Wikipedia (college rule #1: DO NOT ADMIT TO WIKI-ING, and really, who doesn't know that by now?) and telling about how he had 'read on several sites' about Black Ops 2's player count. It sounds like the WSJ just didn't give a damn about their gaming section and hired the first chump they found, and then they didn't even bother to create a style guide to follow. But that might not even matter, because Mr. Najberg is lacking in basic common sense.
Combat is definitely the best part of Borderlands 2, and when I found a good fight, I really got immersed.
That's one of the first things I learned in college to not do when writing a paper--saying "I" or "you". That's just one of many offending statements throughout the entire piece.
At twice that price, though, I think it’s fair for players to demand the whole magilla – [...] scads of downloadable content
He's under the impression that Borderlands 2 doesn't have much in the way of DLC, and that's just plain inexcusable. tl;dr It's half-assed "reporting" at its finest.

  • There are a rare few left, but there are a couple. The Wall Street Journal is one, but only for its financial columns.
