If we all stop buying from them they will be forced to bring in real talent and leadership. As community we could cripple them. I did not pre-order and I am not going to buy anything from them or Sony for that matter. No more talk Joe. Save it we hear nothing but talk we want results that starts right now.

  • Lightfall was one of their best selling DLC’s yet they fell by 45%? How much did they tell Sony they were going to make? They way overestimated what they were going to make and now after their laundry has been aired in public they will lose more players and money. This is when upper management loses their jobs.

  •
How much did they tell Sony they were going to make?
A shitload. They hired a bunch of employees & built a new HQ because they were expecting their reinvestment in themselves to yield high revenue growth.

  • But they neglected the only thing that makes them money. That is not smart and now players have left and they are losing money. I bet they thought they could just keep milking the crappy product they put out and double dipping with eververse and dungeon keys. I have been laid off and I do feel for them but they have skills and will land on their feet. Upper management will be the next to go if they can’t get things going quickly.

  • Yeah and that is Bungie’s fault. They neglected their bread and butter and they have no one to blame but themselves. I don’t want people to lose jobs and I don’t want Bungie to go under. I really don’t want to be charged 100$ for a lack luster DLC with nothing new or quality changes to PvP and activities. This is why I did not pre-order and will not be playing the new content until I see gameplay and reviews.

  • That's your prerogative, but my original comment was addressing you saying that they'd make sweeping management changes if people stop buying.

  • How would starving the company of money give them the means to be able to pay new talent? How would they be able to pay the workers they kept? How will it not lead to another wave of layoffs as they have to cut back further?

  • It is a shitty company that now has to make Final shape a hit. If they layoff more people it will be tough and Sony will not be happy. Then upper management loses their jobs and this is what forces them to put out a good product. They need this to be a hit and it has to be incredible to get players to come back. They can’t let people go and expect to put out a great DLC.

I mean you’re making a big leap there to assume that Sony will do anything. That they won’t just scold the management and leave them where they are. There isn’t actually a good reason to believe Sony will do what they need to because they never have done what Microsoft knew a long time ago you have to do with Bungie. They need to be monitored by the company that owns them. Sony hasn’t been doing that and there is t proof they will. Final shape is actually already probably finished, the layoffs likely won’t effect it that much. The push back is likely more for the programming part but the episodes are still in the works which the quality there is what’s going to suffer. Though I don’t see how starving the company of money is going to allow them to be able to hire people to make sure that content is good. You need revenue to be able to pay people.

  • Too late, mate. They've had 10 years to sort this crap out. It's not the players problem if Bungo can't balance the books.

  • Laying off people is balancing books. Less money means less employees, not more. You don’t hire on more people than you can pay. And profit is the cause of balancing books. Less money coming in means layoffs not hiring.

  • Yes, agreed. But, you have to ask yourself this 'why is there less money coming in?' That there is the crux of this whole problem for Bungo. Simple answer is player retention, and ATM they don't have it. This hasn't happened overnight, this has been coming for a long time. If they did a better job at actually listening to the "wider" community and implementing meaningful changes that the majority of the "paying" player base wanted, my best guess is we wouldn't be here and those employees would still have their jobs. No is to blame here but Bungo.

  • Actually it’s more that the quarter that the reports are for just didn’t have much for players to spend money on. It would have covered the two mid seasons. What people on these forums seem to not realize is that pre-orders aren’t counted yet. People haven’t had to pay for them yet. So it’s more likely they didn’t adjust profit projections for the fact that this is a dip time in the cycle of the game but they projected major quarter profits. So it’s all a failing of high management. But that management isn’t going to be able to hire new talent of being anyone back if they don’t have the money to do so. Also they fired the community links when they fired their social media managers. They ain’t going to be able to hear the community.

  • They've had PLENTY of money to retain and even hire, but where has it gone? I can't answer that but clearly it hasn't gone to the right places. 1.2BILLION dollars for the Sony buyout was specifically put aside for "employees retention" ONE. POINT. TWO. BILLION! As I stated earlier, this isn't just about the last season or even the last year. Bungo has had TEN years doing this with Destiny and that again before this game even started. They aren't new to this industry. There's no one here to blame but Bungo. Lessons should have been learned a long time ago. Shame on them.

  • They had plenty of money? So then you’re Bungie’s accountant and know exactly how much funds they have? No you aren’t, you’re he’s making wild assumptions. They’re working on four games and remodeled their HQ and hired a lot of people. A billion dollars doesn’t go as far as you think it would when it comes to all of that. They actually would have been fully reliant on Destiny’s incoming revenue to maintain that. And they’ll need a continued income or they’ll have to cut back more.
