•
No like an actual explanation
It is. There’s no such thing as an absence of religion. Atheism itself is a religion under the belief that there is no higher power. Secularism is atheism in practice: not considering the implications of higher powers and avoiding said ideas. Courses, classes, and topics of ethics, reason, and morality, possibly philosophy have all been removed from being taught in public schools because those are intelectual realms that would require the implications of higher powers to be considered.

 • Class on topics of morality are useless (ethics is fine because it is required when conducting research). I never really went to church as a kid. I was present physically in church, but not mentally. Religion hasn't taught me anything in the slightest. However, I have a good set of morals, I know what is right and wrong. My parents have taught me this and so has the laws we have. Why should a book from thousands of years ago teach everyone how society works when everyone has been taught that from early on in life?

 • It always amazes me how Christians absolutely fail to understand a simple definition, lol.

 •
Class on topics of morality are useless (ethics is fine because it is required when conducting research).
They go hand in hand. The increases of broken families, mass murders, and infanticide due to the absence of morality and ethics being taught will say otherwise.
I never really went to church as a kid. I was present physically in church, but not mentally. Religion hasn't taught me anything in the slightest.
Well no shit, Sherlock... you just said that you “never really went to church” and that when you did you weren’t present mentally. That’s like a school dropout saying “Education hasn’t taught me anything in the slightest” when they hardly attended and never paid attention. It’s like you don’t even critically think about your own words before you communicate them...
However, I have a good set of morals,
Based upon what standard?
I know what is right and wrong.
Based on what standards? What keeps you doing right when it is painfully inconvenient for you?
My parents have taught me this and so has the laws we have.
Your parents taught you upon what standards? What about parents who teach their children to be racist or abusive? Laws are subject to change. 200 years ago you’d support slavery, according to law provision.
Why should a book from thousands of years ago teach everyone how society works when everyone has been taught that from early on in life?
How do you not realize that you’re abiding by the logical fallacy/cognitive bias of judging something based upon age instead of the actual content it contains? Did your parents teach you to think critically? You sure are failing in that department.

 • You do understand that book with nice pretty ethics and morals has been the cause for wars, discrimination, murder, and lots more. The Spanish inquistion was Spain's way of ridding Muslims from the Iberian peninsula. How about reclaiming the Holy Land in the crusades? Discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is also the Bible's fault. I think discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is the same as discrimination based on race, because it's something a person cannot change about themselves.
Also I'm sorry my biases are different than yours, but that doesn't mean I don't have critical thinking skills.
•
You do understand that book with nice pretty ethics and morals
Nice and pretty? Have you even read the Bible? Most are pretty gritty.
has been the cause for wars, discrimination, murder, and lots more.
Humanity’s inherent depravity has always been the cause for Wars, and they look for any excuse to start and fuel them. Hitler and Stalin didn’t need the Bible to justify their atrocities.
The Spanish inquistion was Spain's way of ridding Muslims from the Iberian peninsula. How about reclaiming the Holy Land in the crusades?
They were fighting back the Muslims and Moors who had conquered their own lands and pillaged and raped and slaughtered their kin. The Catholic Church willfully twisted and misrepresented the contents of the Bible to justify their own causes.
Discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is also the Bible's fault.
Discrimination is people’s fault. Nowhere did Jesus promote discrimination.
I think discrimination against LGBTQ+ people is the same as discrimination based on race, because it's something a person cannot change about themselves.
Homosexuality is as sinful as any other form of sexual immorality (, pre/extramarital sex, adultery, pornography, etc). You can choose to abide those desires or not. Many Christians simply downplay their own sexually sinful failures and play the hypocrite by hyper focusing against homosexuality.

Also I'm sorry my biases are different than yours, but that doesn't mean I don't have critical thinking skills.

Don’t apologize. No need. Sparking Critical thinking is one of my goals.
