Ummmm, the "period in the past" was when Destiny things were new. Now that they're not, they get far more criticism than before. Objectively, D2 is far better than D1. Nostalgia is in fact what makes peoole think otherwise.

Nope. In music world I think my nostalgia would be the first Madonna concert I ever attended as a kid. I cannot repeat that event ever in my life so seeing it in photos is a nostalgic experience. D1 is a repeatable event as I can load a fireteam and play the raid etc. and it will still be the same. D2 to D1 comparison is a game comparison for existing things. It's not a nostalgia like comparing a 70s singer to modern singer.

Nothing about nostalgia says it's something that can't be repeated... in fact, feelings of nostalgia are most common incurred when interacting with things related to those past events... which is exactly what you guys are talking about... so...
Nothing about nostalgia says it's something that can't be repeated...
It sort of does, hence the 'wistful affection' and 'sentimental longing' parts of the definition...
in fact, feelings of nostalgia are most common incurred when interacting with things related to those past events... which is exactly what you guys are talking about... so...
"Feelings of nostalgia", again, this isn't 'feelings', you can go and play this game and get a very real comparison of how D1 and D2 plays. That's not nostalgia. Anyone who has never played Destiny 1 can experience this, by definition that is not nostalgia since they wouldn't have the previous 'feelings' you're talking about. Playing Destiny 1 in 2019 = not nostalgia The memory of playing your first Vault of Glass raid in 2014 = Nostalgia. Learn the difference...

Destiny 1 is still there and just as playable as the day D2 came out though. Sure, people may have feelings of how it felt to play it back then (and that would be nostalgia), but going to play it now to make a direct comparison, and finding that you prefer it, is not nostalgia... Also, D2 isn't "objectively better" than D1, and I don't know how you intend to prove that...
