If only there was a way to not have to purchase optional useless cosmetic items 🤔

Not strictly cosmetic. They've slowly been pushing Eververse more and more. Originally it was just emotes, then Masks, then sparrows, rep boosters, etc. The people who said this was a slippery slope back in October 2015 were right. Also, even though some stuff is cosmetic, it takes away opportunities for better content. Example: Saint-14, Osiris and Ikora ships - should be a story-focused side quest reward.
-
The only thing that is a slippery slope so far is the dawning sword. None of the gear in this game is worthy of being considered p2w by any means
-
I found 2 of these swords from doing the gift schematics. Last one was a Masterwork. Paid $0

I think the problem is there is nothing else to play for in this game other than new gear, even if it is cosmetic. They could have easily added all of this as available just through playing rewards so people had something to play for. Sure you can use bright dust, but most people will not have enough to buy it all and apart from money, there is no other way to get it.
-
I earnes every piece of dawning armor for all three characters strictly through gameplay. It is possible.
-
Yep me 2. All 3 sets absolutely free.
-
Really? How? I only had 2 class items drop and one helmet from packages. I had to buy the rest of the Titan set with my built up bright dust. Just lucky drops?
-
I got a few items from the engrams...then simply purchased the rest with bright dust. If I needed bright dust. I played for rank ups to dismantle for more. It was tedious for sure. But I simply wanted to make a point that it was possible.
-
If you came into the game new at Xmas with no previous build up of bright dust, you would have had to play like non stop every day to even have a chance surely? Obviously that way to push people to buying silver. You know, I wouldn’t actually mind so much if you could directly spend your silver on the armour pieces (as long as you could still get them just through play), but it all comes down to RNG on the packages and how much bright dust you get.

Im a launch player so I had a good chunk so yes for newbies it would of been rough.
-
Exactly. They need to fix the game.
-
That's such poor logic, my friend. Newbies should have to work harder for it, or wait for next year. Why should someone that just started playing be entitled to the same stuff players who spent the time playing and grinding should? The idea of that irks me.
-
Snowflake alert
-
....Me saying newbies need to work harder for the winter loot or wait till next year makes me a snowflake? You -blam!-ing mental? lol
-
Sure do. Dawning gear should have all been available as rewards through drops, not eververse. In fact all gear should be.
-
They were rewards for drops.
-
Yes, but purposely incredibly low chance of getting to try and push people to microtransactions. Crap.
-
That's just a mentality thing. I have no interest in the eververse, except when I level up and earn a bright engram. If people want to throw out the collection complaint, they'd first have to bring up vault size before bringing up eververse. It's impossible to collect even a third of everything actually in game with a loot vault that small. It's why I laugh at people who use that complaint, because until the vault is fixed, it has no merit.
-
I only collect the the sets I like, not everything, and the dawning gear was cool enough that I wanted it and it would have been a reason worth playing for for me. Instead I had to bright dust my way to the Titan gear after only getting a class item from the engrams. My warlock and hunter I received no other armour pieces from engrams and didn’t have enough bright dust, trying to force me to eververse. Considering there are no random rolls, they may as well make all gear available from a collection like they do with exotics once it has dropped one time for you. Problem solved.
-
Useless cosmetic gear.
-
It’s all useless so they can try and justify having it ‘for sale’.
-
It was for sale in d1. Now you can at least play the game and get the gear....and yet cry babies are still not happy. I didn't see any cringe worthy forum spamming in d1.... Kids these days sheesh
-
I never really looked at eververse in D1. Playing the dawning really seemed like I had no choice but to go to it for this cosmetic gear, at least with bright dust. Would much rather it all be in game drops.

review your definitions...for example cosmetic: shader endgame: gear <---- do you need it in a coloring book to get the concept? XD
