Better nerfs for these weapons would be better designed encounters.
Make it so that the next raid doesn't require sheer firepower to kill the boss. Like the entire process for killing Oryx as having to use something in the envrironment and the next relic.
Keep weapons for mowing down minions of the darkness, and have nothing to spongy.
Don't make it so damn safe to sit far outside enemy range. Have enemies move too you and increase their range and frequently spawn.
Have Destiny Tank enemies project a shield if players are firing from too far away.

I agree, there are lots of little things they did in TDB that could have transferred over to the raid, like those glowing green circles that cause pain and death. Two witches just hanging out in the tower randomly casting them all over the place. Would have mad a huge difference. Even better is those two high platforms above the ledge where everyone stands, and make them yellow bar of course, but they can't shoot their hand magic. More strategy is needed in these raids. VoG had it somewhat right, where you could form groups for specific tasks, then they went and ruined that, when they should have had more interesting things happen.

You obviously don't know how snipers operate in real life. They shoot out of range of enemies with powerful weapons.

Of course I don't And that's completely irrelevant. Bungie is effectively nerfing the snipers in the game because we're trivializing the the game by sitting outside enemy range. My point is, rather than nerf the gun, fix the encounters so that we can't simply easy mode it, because these nerfs don't actually stop us from doing what they're trying to stop.

Yep, why even use sniper or heavy then, let's just use shotguns on bosses ?!
