Star Trek was a unique sci-fi series in that used diplomacy to solve many of the problems in countered. I think that in honour of Leonard Nemoy, Bungie should add to the story a push by the vanguards to make peace with the Kabal to fight the true enemies of the darkness. (I mean we're already fighting 3 other aliens) Imo they don't seem dark at all, they're just trying to protect their home like the guardians are.
