Ive been playing since day one, but I've not had the time to invest a huge amount. Im 170 hours in and level 30, but yet to do a raid.
The reason is this- I don't like mic's. I work a long day and when I get home I like spending it in my wife's company. That said, I've watched walkthroughs and would be able to hear you fine but wouldn't necessarily talk back.
My question is- how many of you would raid with someone who has no mic?
Im not necessarily LFG, just wondering!
Never use my mic - I find if you can listen, knowing what your doing and have maybe 1 good leader who talks it's a piece of cake. To many mics = to many people inputting = confusion which leads to failing.

I once got asked by a random group to do VoG. I accepted and was surprised when no one spoke. I didn't even plug my mic in. That turned out to be my best and quickest raid yet. Everyone performed excellently and I got two pieces of raid gear I didn't have yet. We only wiped twice. Once at Gatekeeper and once at Atheon.
-
Helped one of my friends to do normal. We all had a mic except for the one running with the sword. We didn't even say a word to her and we beat it with only 4.

The other day I went on a Destiny LFG site and was immediately invited to a party, I accepted the party invite and was waiting for the game invite. After about 2 minutes I received one and accepted it. We proceeded to go through the raid, but at the beginning things seemed off. For example the party I was in was concerned that we wouldn't be able to beat the raid because we only had 5 people however I saw 6 counting myself. I just ignored it thinking they weren't thinking straight. When we got to areas like the Templar my fireteam wanted to wipe so I proceeded to jump off a cliff, however no one else jumped? So being a warlock I self resurrected and continued playing. After we beat the templar we head to gorgon's maze. After about halfway through gorgon's maze the people in my party were complaining they couldn't beat the Templar....I then finally notice the mic symbols going off in the lower corner of my screen. Finally it occurs to me that I accepted one teams party invite and another's game invite lol I leave the party and proceed to continue the raid and beat it. Point is, I did half the VoG raid without hearing anyone, if you know what your doing and have a lot of high leveled players I don't think a mic is as crucial as it was when a new raid is introduced. VoG has been around for awhile and most people can beat it now in under 30-45 minutes. I'd recommend having multiple people who know how to use the relic because it'd be a bit hard to use it and not have a mic. As long as you can hear people though you should be fine

I'm fully experienced with VoG (as in, literally every aspect of it) so I msg the leader and say that I can hear but not talk. Usually goes well.

I think someone that will listen is better than some of the more arrogant players out there. I am by no means a master raider, but I actually prefer when 1 or 2 people don't have mics and simply listen. Six people all yammering away into their mics can often make things worse. Often it becomes a case of too many chiefs, not enough indians. Un-miced players (good ones) listen and fall into a comfortable support role that I typically appreciate more than someone who lets the time they put into a game over - inflate their ego as they patronize the rest of their team.

I just tell people I can hear audio and we go on as normal. Never any problems.

I can do it. Both raids I know just about every strat do no communication necessary, I normally use my mic byt not all thr time
-
If it's one out of the 6 people then I'd try it out but if you've never done it before then that a whole other thing. You should get a mic
-
I (luckily) met someone who wanted to raid with me, and I don't have a mic. and the job they let me do worked out pretty well. half of the people who don't have a mic. can hear through their TV so its better to give them a chance, so the job they gave me as the person w out a mic. is to make boomers flinch and protect sword holder, and we got through it first run (don't have mic.)
-
With a random ? No. With someone I know and have raided with before. Yes.
-
I don't care

Editado por Doc SoCal: 1/26/2015 4:19:03 PMGenerally it is a deal breaker for me but I don't really play with total randoms. There is one guy on my friends list that I raid with that never talks, ever... but he is so damn good no one cares. Get over your fear of speaking to strangers, there are friends to be made out there. Once you establish a solid friends list of raiders, you wont have to go out there into the dark with randoms.

Noooo gotta have a mic bruh! Communication is paramount in a raid.
-
Possible but a hell of a lot easier if you have a mic, also if you've not raided before you'll be wanting to ask what to do.

I'd do anything but hard crota with someone without a mic. It's entirely possible to raid with no mic, but in my experience a lot of people who play without mics have a hard time listening and following instructions. Also, while you can hear everything, you can't make your own calls or contribute advice or strategy to your team. I'm sure a player who is good and experienced could do any raid without a mic though, so long as they have good awareness.
-
Communication is key for any raid. The more successful ppl are successful for just that reason. Even with ransoms ur chance for success doubles, if not triples when everyone has a mic
-
I went from using no mic to using one. I think you need one.
-
I usually say mic is a must, but when we couldn't 5 man Crota last night (HM), we brought in a sixth who couldn't speak. He could still hear us though and followed directions well. Props to our silent 6th man!! Crota down!!
-
Sometimes we need feedback from you that you understand what is going on, or if we change a tactic...to confirm you know.
-
I wouldn't care it's not that big of a deal. If you have a general understanding of what you're doing and you listen it's not a problem
-
No mic, but I'll set up my computer to go to the xbox homepage and send a message to players in my party if I need to communicate.
-
I'd be willing try with people on normal without a mic, but I'd also quit if it became obvious they weren't following directions. The hardest part of playing with people who haven't actually played the raids before and have no mic, is finding out what they aren't sure about. I can explain what's going to happen all I want, but there's always something that comes up that would be a heck of a lot easier to deal with, if the new person could just ask "what should I be doing here?" or "what if this happens?" There's only so much that can be communicated efficiently with "jump for Yes, dance for No".
-
I wouldn't mind on either VoG or normal Crota, think on HM it'd be a problem
-
Depends if they listen to what people say
