I think that fatebringer can break the knights shields but it may be due to the explosive rounds.

It used to penetrate the knights shield , bungie patched it

Sometimes with lag, I can kill knights with their shields up, with any weapon

Yeah. I first noticed it on my Crusader I with explosive rounds. Definitely the explosive rounds that take out the wall of darkness.

Yeah that's because of explosive rounds. If you switch to Single Point Sling it won't do that.
