It's time to hang up my guardian's gear and call it game over. After investing so much time into this game and money into this company, I'm not really getting much out of this in terms of enjoyment.
I play games to have fun, and with destiny, everything feels like a chore. I log on to do the same thing on a different day.
Bounties. Dailies. Weeklies. Rinse and repeat. The new raid gave no sense of accomplishment, but rather a longing for something more. I've enjoyed destiny for all of it's aspects. I figured the expansion would be more, but was left with sand through my fingers.
I know that Destiny is one M shy of MMORPG and that it may be an FPS as well, one is expected to endure this monotonous trend. And I have.
What I liked:
Fast paced action combat that left my heart racing.
Smooth user interface.
VoG is still the best PVE experience I've had in any online game.
A variety of item stats, perks, class builds to suit the play styles of many.
Robust lore with a wealth of mystery and intrigue.
What I disliked:
Monotonous content.
Poor story delivery.
No trade system.
No in game text chat channels.
The feeling of doing chores when doing bounties and dailies.
No PVE progression. IE: Tier 1 raid gear (VoG) required to enter tier 2 raid (CE), instead they made VoG gear pointless for new players.
Forcing me to PvP.
Many PvP events and one subpar PVE event (queens BOUNTY)
I've grown to loathe the word bounty
The fact that Destiny is about as predictable and monotonous as my 9-5 work schedule.
Poor clan infrastructure.
No incentive for clans to work together.
No truly customizable options, everyone looks the same.
This game shows just as much personality as bungie showed when they didn't do anything for the holiday.
What I couldn't shake:
The feeling that Destiny is one big social experiment testing how much a consumer will pay before they get fed up and leave.
Farewell and happy grinding/farming.
May you find come next "expansion" that it was all for nothing. You have until March!
EDIT: For those of you in the same boat, add me on PSN (Hermes3339) so we can get together on some other games or follow our community @ OMENGaming.net

Read quite a bit not all. I always answer these posts the same though. Most games have 8-10h of stories gameplay then either you stop playing or go hard into pvp. I am sure though that you have many hours played on this game and well, things don't last forever. At least you enjoyed it for a while. Later.

11 RespuestasTo the individuals who say "leave already, stop making these posts. They mean nothing" you clearly don't understand that this game is a product and us, the consumers, are using this forum to express our disappointment in what was sold to us. Maybe your too childish to understand marketing and consumer trust. It comes down to setting expectations in consumers and market hype. Bungie hyped us up but didn't deliver clear expectations and every new patch or announcement is filled with more ambiguous expectations. This game plays well mechanically but I don't believe it was developed with a "10 year plan" this is the kind of story you find in an arcade game 10 years ago. Anyway. Lost steam. This game is done. Maybe I'll check out destiny 2 if it comes out but I'll wait this time for reviews and the first dlc to drop. Maybe I can avoid wasting hours in the first raid and just buy equivalent gear.

We don't care! Read first few sentences and knew what this babble was goin to be about. News flash: this is a game. Sounds like you got your moneys worth, 500 hours..

1 Respuesta500 hours and he's disappointed. GTFO

All games get you bored eventually, they aren't like unlimited entertainment, give it a break, you'll come back like the rest, I'm about to go back to battlefield after an 8 months break lol

Same type of person who eats an entire steak then complains to staff that it wasn't cooked properly. Smh.

1 RespuestaAgree with everything you wrote except "variety of item stats, perks, class builds to suit the play styles of many" Please tell me how many different "builds" there are for my striker titan.

So many goodbye posts. Never seen another game where people feel the need to tell everyone they're quitting. Like anyone gives a fu##. Just quit and stop looking for attention. It's pathetic and sad.

Good review and 500 hours is a lot for any game so you got the worth. Liked how you said it had poor story DELIVERY. The story is awesome when you weed through cut scenes, strike intros and the grimoire. But I agree the delivery wasn't great at all and many people don't spend the time to learn it themselves

After 48 straight hours of go-karts, I'm tired of driving in circles man.

At least you got 500 hundred hours out of 60ish bucks, right?
-
500 hours. That's less than your average game...
you got your money's worth dude.
-
Good post. Constructive, without whining.

Omg no no no, u can't... What?... Bro?... Really?... Done?.... Like done, done?... I mean 500 hours, that's it? U have not gotten your money's worth yet. Bro, Guardian... Stand, stand and fight the darkness... There is a deep, dark, important story here, shrouded in darkness, that demands you stand and fight guardian!

Should the money we put into this game be for the quality of the time we spent playing Destiny or the quantity of time we spent playing Destiny?

5 RespuestasI agree. I wish I could stop playing but I can't. I feel like if I put destiny down im going to miss out on something important.

10 RespuestasEditado por Passionate_Thug: 12/26/2014 6:39:33 PMIm not good enough to quit and my first crack at VoG i had to leave because the guys were too cheesy man im serious! I was a rotten apple when i was a kid and i grew up in poverty and did some prison time and did some awful shit but now im a tax paying civilian that contributes to society but one thing that will never change is my disgust for snotty little pukes like the kids i teamed up with in the raid "dude who is using a fusion rifle" "we are gettin trolled so hard right now" "im about to quit if i hear another fusion rifle fire up" this is what they were sayin when i whipped out Plan C in some random part of the game and then i heard "nobody should be dying here this is the easy part" lmao for who? If we werent suppose to die then it would be easy and anyone could do it so i just left and i heard one of them say "ya he sucked for a level 30 what a noob" there is no sense of brotherhood at all. Each one should teach one. Im sure when i get good and feel like i accomplished most of what it takes to be considered good i will probably move on to something else also. I can see your point but at this point im not good enough to walk away and feel satisfied with what i accomplish in this game. Not yet. Not anytime soon. Im staying but good bye fellow guardian.
