Is Anybody Else Pissed About The New Currency?
Vanguard/Crucible Commendations seem like unnecessary roadblocks that are there to simply stop players from reaching level 30 too fast, and invest even more time in the game. I could understand if Gear and Weapons required EITHER a Commendation or certain amount of Marks, but no. It requires BOTH. It takes at least one and a half to two weeks for a casual to rank up, so that's maybe 1 piece of armor per week or 2. I don't know about you guys, but I despise this system.
Edit 1: Whoa, 800 replies. It seems like the community is split on this one. I'm still not all for the idea. As I said, if weapons/armor required marks OR a commendation, I'd be fine. But it requires both (from what I understand).

The only time I bought stuff was when I needed some shards. I'm level 30 now, so I didn't need to buy stuff anyway.

Given how many vendors require Crucible only this also means I'll be screwing around in Crucible a lot more, so sorry to all the peeps I end up with

You only need 3 pieces of armor and an exotic lol. Buy one with crucible marks, one with Van marks each week

I think the slowed progression is nice. I have done the raid enough to get two 30s and a 29. Tomorrow I will rank my vanguard up and buy my last piece of gear for my warlock. Then I can raid to 32. If you don't have an exotic or raid gear already it will only take 2-4 weeks to hit 30 at the rate you described. Meanwhile you will be high enough level to do VoG which speeds up your timeline.

I have 3 30s and raid weapons so i dont care...but if i didnt have 3 30s i would be happy that i have a way to get to 30 that isnt rng ... My preference would be lvl 30 gear could only be purchased with a commendation from VoG...so 4 30 gear pieces would require 4 VoG clears

7 RespuestasNope. It keeps scrubs like you who couldn't grind out the raid or iron banner from buying your gear. You have a negative KD with barely any games played and only 10 raids completed. You don't deserve 30.

I believe there meant to make people play the game the way bungie wants. It will make you do bounties. Less people can go afk and get rewards. Also the time it takes to get enough marks to buy a weapon takes about as long as to get a rank up. Actually the rank up would be faster. But ull have to actually do the bounties not sit in crucible afk.

6 RespuestasU guys are comparing completely different things. The new DLC gear is the exact same as the old gear. It will get you 2 light level away from max just like the old vangaurd gear did. And it's no more giving it away then the random shit hole that is the vault of glass. Both ways u have to grind to get the gear. And lvl 30 will be irrelevant in the new hard mode just like getting to lvl 28 with the old vangaurd gear and trying hard mode on that raid. I don't understand people want all the weapons and gear to move up in rank with new gear so what u never ever have to try and get another drop? If they did that people would be bitching about how all the new gear and weapons are garbage. There is no pleasing people at all.

Actually from what has been said about the new vanguard armor it gives light of 33 and with a fully equipped you get a light level of 31. I have no issue of this.

I'm not too chuffed about it. I'm a little unhappy that I can't be a part of FWC without having to do crucible stuff, but oh well. There are other things I am far more unhappy about than this.

It's just one more reminder that Bungie doesn't care how we want to play the game or use our resources; they want to have full control over every aspect of how we experience the game. From how we use our currency, to what gear we wear, and even what strategies we use. Any time any one starts doing something that Bungie didn't expect them to do you can be sure it's only a matter of time before it's changed...

You can level up vanguard in one week with bounties. More in u play Pve and crucible. Possible 2 faction levels a week. Still we should all wait at least one more day before unleashing the backlash on bungie. **Let's also not forget that one exotic we are all wearing IS A LEVEL 30 armor piece. So we only really need 3 armor pieces. Could take as little as two weeks. **

Unfotunatley i have to agree that bungie seems to be adding it for the sake of making us have to grind and play more. I'd rather have more fun content than roadblocks.
