Regardless how you feel about it, this is what's happening.
We buy the game, level up and gain rewards. We are told to become Legend. We invest our precious time into an often times unrewarding system in hopes to get said rewards. Once we get these rewards, we spend more time leveling them and making them better because that's what we wanted.
A few months later some DLC drops.
We are told that out of all the content we just spent our time obtaining and leveling will be getting pushed to the side besides the selection of exotics we've obtained (which we can continue to level).
Now the DLC drops and we have to start over (not entirely) and spend our time gaining new weapons and armor, not only because we want the new gear but because now we have to replace our old gear as well.
In 3 more months this process will start again.
When the second 'season' of DLC is announced and dropped, this will happen again.
When Destiny 2 releases... seeing a pattern?
After 2 years of playing this game are we still going to be using the SUROS and Gjhalahorn because those are the only viable options we've been allowed to keep?
What becomes of the VoG? There will be absolutely no point in playing it. Why? Because who wants to farm for gear that does below average damage?
The same thing goes for Krota. No one will play it when House of Winter releases.
Many people said the game was lacking content but instead of adding content, they are replacing content.
This is their 10 year plan?
We could stop playing now and come back in 6 years and be on top of the food chain in a couple weeks.
[EDIT]
Coming back to this thread 6 months later and still surprised as to what's still true and to what's changed in order to retain/bring back users...

Let me expand on what you've said You have told me u want a game where this doesn't occur correct and rather there is more of a story in assuming Now think any mmo is this process even if it is expanded you begin level 1 with level 1 gear u work a bit hit level 2 replace that gear level 3 replace again now we can put in a level cap and give you guys a chance to be there with everyone else for a bit and feel powerful or they can introduce a continue exponential scale to the point where people that live on it become all powerful and nobody with half a life can catch them I don't know about anybody but ur arguing that they should essentially remove levels or remove the level cap clearly you do not understand the type of game you are investing ur time into it's how it works this is just smaller Let's look at world of Warcraft it started at wat max 60 then 70 and it took weeks or even months to be the best 70 then 80 again weeks or months 85 again more time now 90 more time Let me ask you this is the same system why are you not bitching to them why does nobody bitch to them? O that's right they are mature enough to realise the type of game they are investing time into hate to be condescending but if you don't like this game leave it cause it gonna change and that's why it shld never of been First person cause every kid got it and thought it would be another little shooter like cod so boo hoo don't whinge make a choice.... Love it or leave it

7 RespuestasEditado por zeppy101010: 12/6/2014 9:08:00 PMIf you think the reward system is bad in this game you really havent played many RPG or MMOs before. I actually think its too easy to obtain exotics in this game, there suppose to be the rarest items in the game? Exotics and raid gear are suppose to be RARE, my problem is that it seems there rare for some and common for others. I want more consistency, no one person should get the same really rare item 3 or 4 times how is that a rare item?

No one is making you play so how about you return the game to gamestop you might get 30$ in store credit and stop bitching. People are going to always bitch about something. If they would make the amour from the VoG useful after the DLC drops then people are going to bitch about "what's the point in running the new raid if I can just keep the shit I already have". They will never win EVER because people like you. It's a company what's the main concern in company's ummm lets see MONEY they will do what ever it takes to make money. What's second CUSTOMER SERVICE in this case to try and please people. Kids bitch that the vex is to op, they nerf it, two weeks later they buff it because the kids have got the vex and bitch that it's too underpowered people bitch about Xur not selling what they wanted that week or even new shit that week but you know why because it's a lot funner trying to reach your goal than sitting on it. People say this game is broke and they bitch and bitch and bitch and bitch but guess what about 90% of the people that are doing the bitching is still going to buy the DLC still going to play the game still going to grind out all the levels on their new raid gear. You bitch about what they are doing with the game but if you really think about it would you have it any other way if you was in their shoes.

7 RespuestasEditado por NightMare3883: 12/7/2014 12:02:26 AMSupposedly VoG will get bumped to 31(someone on here posted the article) yet OP has a point there should be more scaling in place for current content to not phase out. I am surprised they did not learn from the games they seems to borrow from. By phasing out the VoG we now have less weekly content in that we really can really only run Crota on normal. Couple that with the mixed info on legendaries and we potentially have double the grind to get new weapons than before. To make the game better we actually need to keep adding content, scale current content for relevance, as well as stop implementing play barriers such as commendations.

2 RespuestasWelcome to the mmo style of Destiny. It's like this in every MMO. You're gear is obsolete after every dlc/next tiered raid.

1 RespuestaThe last sentence is my 10 year plan. Come back in 6 years and be on top of the food chain in a few weeks. I'll be collecting some strange on Tuesdays and popping into the Destiny world ever once and awhile. .... But NO more hamster wheel gear grind for me I'll wait until this beta (cough cough) I mean wait until THE FULL game content has been released with all the max exotics and then come back and really play Destiny.
I might have a low Grimiore score when I come back compared to the folks that stay and keep grinding ....but who cares.
6 RespuestasProgress resets, item and material obsolescence, the introduction of new currencies, and this stalling of hard mode are all meant to slowly drip feed you the new content over time in an attempt to keep you playing without realizing that you paid a few hours worth of new stuff, much of which is already a rehash of the content you already experienced.

I haven't got 10 years of this in me. I'm feeling burnt out after 3 months. Unless Destiny 2 is true open would with actual exploration and intrigue, I don't think I'll bother.

13 RespuestasPeople talking about the gear in this thread are missing the point of the post. This game lacks CONTENT and even the announcement of the next DLC is causing the current content to become obsolete. They could have handled this in such a way as the DLC adding to the content. They did not, it's replacing it. This is a tragedy, because over time the addition of content could have made this game less repetitive.

6 RespuestasI just officially received my refund for the DLC from Sony... Thank you Sony...

1 RespuestaWtf us with ppl like most game I don't get it why ppl moan no wonder ppl suck so bad at this game u want everything on a plat ok eat up big boy
-
1 RespuestaLol go play any mmo that has had multiple xpacs. Welcome to the real world.
-
1 RespuestaThis, I agree and I know people will soon learn.

1 RespuestaWhat I want to know is, why are we running the same planets once the DLC has arrived as we were before? There is already a crucible map played on Mercury, so where is that? Why is the reef nothing more than a set of videos during gameplay? I love this game, but it's not what players were shown going in... Opening up a few closed doors in the same areas that we've already been running is hardly worth 50% of the price of the original game... Just my opinion. If people paid an extra $30 for additional content, the first DLC should, at worst, expand the world by 25% compared to what was available in the original game... The DLC is a rip off, and I'm sad that I paid 50% of the original cost of the game to get, if the first DLC is any indicator, an experience that expands the world by (maybe) 10%...

42 RespuestasWelcome to the life of an MMO. Grind/Grind/Oh wait, what? More Grinding.. You always have the option of less QQ'ing and just stop playing the game.
-
2 RespuestasThat about sums up world of Warcraft. Oh wait, you were talking about destiny. Oh I'm so sorry that you have to play the dlc to beat it. I too agree that you should immediately be able to beat all of the content. (Insert sarcasm)
-
So true only a fool cant see it
-
If that's suppose to be the case they're going to be short 9 years.
-
2 RespuestasI don't see how you can criticize the game when you don't even know if any of this is true.
-
5 RespuestasYes. Now deal with it.

I never paid attention to Destiny until I rented it from Red Box. So I don't know exactly what was the talk before it was released. But I'm pretty sure when they said this would be a 10 year game. They meant it as a "10 year franchise." Like Halo. It's lasted more than 10 years. But they did it by new games every few years. I'm sure there is no way that they were going to do one game and just keep adding DLC to it. For me, as long as they make the game good, add better story, do the weapon and gear upgrades right, and add great DLC...then they can do it however. Wether new games every few years with DLC in between or if it's possible to extend one disk for many years that's fine too.

1 RespuestaI'm waiting on buying DB to see how long it takes people. And if the timing of IB coming back isn't intended to slow people down by giving them something else to do, I'd be surprised.

6 RespuestasI hate these people saying "well every MMO does it..." actually no, that's not how every MMO does it. final fantasy 11 survived for years without doing what "every MMO does" by NOT discarding content. they built on their world and all forms of end game were relevant for YEARS. then...they raised the level cap past 75 and -blam!-ed it up. an MMO certainly does NOT need to keep this shitty system of "scrap everything previously and make them grind whatever is new". the VoG will become a museum and so will crota's end. honestly, it's the new generation of gamers ruining it for everyone. when once challenge was all we needed now we need to make sure were always better geared than someone else. so run x raid nonstop until that happens! what a bunch of balls. Destiny had the potential, from all those vidoc and interviews, to revolutionize the MMO market by becoming the first real MMOFPS. Instead we get world of destiny (which blizzard is a part of activision go figure). I'm almost 100% certain activision told blizzard to tell bungie how MMO's work, and instead of bungie being all "GTFO this is our game" they went "uhh you must know you're the kings of MMO". blizzard certainly doesn't know how to make this genre go forward or they would have done it already. Bungie, you dropped the ball and that is NOT cool. From what we have seen from you before, destiny is a step backwards. ALL of your previous titles are better than destiny. If you guys do anything, make destiny 2 what destiny was supposed to be because I want what you are truly capable of. Not the next activision fatality.

With other games it's a week or two of gameplay and on to the next. Within 3 months this game has put out a dlc come Tuesday to refresh the game and advance it. Yes what was promised to us was not fully delivered and you make valid points, but really a game like this trying to blend the mmorpg and fps genres I think is doing a fair job at keeping a lot of people happy with the game. So yes in my opinion this is a good start to a 10yr plan. Because if everything is set and done too much too soon it will be another game you will trade into gamestop for something else. This was just my opinion and in no way is it meant to bash you or your opinion, just stating my point of view.
