Try refresh on the character screen. Swipe all the way to the right and there is a refresh character. Tap it. If this doesn't work try signing out and back again. This app does many odd things sometimes.

Then deleting cache and delete content database option( this just make you have refresh and download app content) only takes like 10 sec to reload. If this doesn't work, I'm all out of ideas except to check if it's the current version.
