Excellent, thank you. Ill try to be concise, we have to come up with another option. No one is going to want to continue to upgrade exotics from scratch every expansion, its just not viable. Second, the current purposed method basically punishes previous effort, and hopefully we can agree this sends the wrong message.
Many people purpose that upgrading an exotic keeps progress but adds new nodes to the exotic... which solves both problems but only in the short term. Several expansions from now we will have upgrade nodes running of the interface XD.
This is my purposed solution: Add a second set of three upgrade nodes that have slightly different Icons (heck, make the icon something to indicate the Dark Below). When you upgrade an exotic, all previous progress will be retained and these three nodes will be added (bridging whatever attack/defense gap). Now fast forward to House of Wolves... this time when we upgrade an exotic, these three nodes will reset (and ONLY these three nodes) and upgrade to a new Icon (something to indicate The House of Wolves expansion). And so on and so forth.
This solves both problems, players will not be punished for upgrading exotics every expansion, and a non-cumbersome method to continue exotic growth growth expansion to expansion.
[b]tl;dr[/b] Added three transient nodes that will be added for this expansion and can be reset and upgraded on future expansions, all exotics retain previous advancement, up to but not including transient nodes.

The reforges arent here because of the theme of Dark Below but a new mechanic to the game. Though that is the only thing i wanted to say.

You are aslo making it seem to be a exapnasion theme because you said the same thing for the house of wolfs Also note i wasnt saying anything towards your soulution just saying that it saying that the reforges are not here to be theme as the expansions and if its not close to the subject im sorry >. <

We are talking about how exotics should be upgraded, not weapon reforging. I was stating the transient nodes what would bridge att/def gaps expansion to expansion should be different that the standard stat-upgrade nodes already on the guns/armor. I was suggesting that using an icon to indicate the present expansion would be an easy way to do this and serve two purposes: Identify it as a different node than the vanilla weapon and identify specifically what tier of upgrade has been invested in it (this will matter more when subsequent expansion occur).

When I say reforging I mean the upgrade to increase att/def and reset the progress done with the gear. That does sounds cool, but I was saying that it shouldnt just be based on the expansion, just wanted to say that. Because this option to upgrade your gear to get higher stats will prob be mess with and fix or have things done to it before the next expansion. And it will require you two/three exotic shards to do this. One for the final upgrade another to ascend the upgrade tree for more dmg/def and another for the final upgrade thats there for the ascended upgrade. and if you use your soultion there 2 ways this is bridge either 6 more upgrade nodes and have to reset the first 3 or reset the 3 nodes and still be the same dmg/def in the previous expansion. In the long run having your weapon reset to a higher dmg/def is worth more. note this is all just my opinion and not forcing it just saying what I understand. A question though I know it resets your progress but does it switch the ability upgrades? like for Patiance and Time the ability upgrade for camo is replace with another or would it just reset its exp to 0 ?
