You'd have to upgrade it either way. Whether it's a new purchase or you're swapping out the current armor you have on for some with different perks.
And, either way, you'd still have to do the new raid to hit level 32

I understand that but why should anyone have to reset their gear and start over when someone could just buy the same item from xur, get the upgrade and once fully upgraded be at the same level as someone who's had to put twice as much time into the weapon/armor.
-
Because you didn't have the gear to start with either way. You'd have to go out of your way to obtain it either way. So why shouldn't you have to work to level it either way? At least with trading you'll get what you really want. With Xur it's just a roll of the dice

Never said I was against trading and how is having something, levelling it up fully not having the gear? Someone who fully levels an exotic then resets has to fully level again. Someone who gets the same exotic but after the update can buy the upgrade and go straight to fully levelling without the need of a reset, therefor saving resources and most importantly time! I'm not saying people shouldn't have to work for upgrades, of course they should. What I am saying is someone who has already earned each upgrade shouldn't have to earn them again for a damage boost. They could easily have added extra damage/defence slots onto existing exotics. I don't know if we're barking up the same tree here so I'm gonna leave it at that. Thanks for the chat though.

Let's say for example a player buys plan c today but really wanted pocket infinity. Now of course they'll use the plan c and make it stronger while they're at it so it won't feel under powered. Then they get the pocket infinity bounty, complete it, now they want to use it of course since that'd what they were after in the first place. Everything they did to plan c becomes a moot point. They still have to work on leveling up pocket infinity. That's where I was coming from saying the experience should reset. It's the same type of scenario.

To be honest, having absorbed multiple different opinions on this subject I'm inclined to change my mind. There were points I was unclear on that have since been made much more clear to me (mainly the weekly update). I agree with what your saying, I've just levelled my Gjallarhorn up not fully but enough for wolf pack rounds. I'm glad when u reset your base damage will be 302, two points above fully upgraded damage from before, I'll just wait until I'm ready and reset my fave weapons. As for trading I understand points for and against the idea. I for one would back trading, if two people are willing to trade items they're happy with then why shouldn't they? I have seen some saying "lower levels will just be kitted out with the best stuff" this is just not true. You can't use legendaries or exotics until level 20 anyway and trading any of the rare or below items is rather pointless! Besides you can swap them between your own characters when u hit 20 anyway. I'm all for trading if it's implemented in the correct way. Maybe a vendor where you put your item up for trade outlined with what you would like for it, if someone meets the criteria, great you trade items and the next time you log in your new item will be waiting at the vendor. Maybe give people say 5 trading tickets a week and once you've used them up you have to wait for weekly reset? I don't know but I'd live to see trading without it ruining the game.

That would be a good system as long as there was still the gifting option for new players. Just a nice way to welcome them to the game imo. A search option would be required too. (i.e. I want a patience and time sniper so let me see all options as to who's offering one and what they want for it) along with the option to accept dieefering items for your trade (I'll let you get my truth rocket launcher if you give me cryptic dragon OR icebreaker OR achlyophage symbiote)
-
Oh yeah I agree with that. A trading system would have to be near flawless to avoid exploiting and I hate to say it but......destiny has been a far from flawless experience. No game is perfect and I love destiny but to blindly ignore it's faults (not aimed at u in any way) is the reason companies (I think maybe publishers pushing deadlines) release half finished products. Never the less, I love it and will continue to hold my faith in it.

Yea there's plenty of faults. Like the massive server issues for the last three days. Oh there's this expansion we're putting out, but good luck logging in to play it. Major downfall of online only games. I'd appreciate it more if they'd fix the flaws first. Then dlc. Then, maybe, a trade system.

Completely agree. There's definitely potential here. I'm failing to see the point of the beta though, this feels more like a beta sometimes haha.

Also, if you're willing to trade stuff to people just to help them out I don't see why that's a problem either. It just feels like they're restricting the sense of community. I believe trading would only serve to build a better community amongst destiny's players. Some of the best friendships around are forged through business......except master Rahool, he's never gonna make any friends haha
