Who picks up people based on their character's facial appearance that you can only see in the Tower? Why not just look at their name above their character?

Perhaps this is my background in RPG games and in MMO's with heavier investment in character than Destiny (which is more player focused I'd argue) but I tend to be driven by character appearance when recognising people as much as by a name tag. You make one good point though, in Destiny that's predominantly armour not face/build so it's probably not as much of a problem as it would be in a game like wow where character portrait appears when in someone's party.
