What did her gender bring to the topic, when I have seen many many guys (statistically speaking, as they did not feel the need to outline their gender) say the same exact thing?
And her identity? All she did was identify with 50% of the world population. That is not really cutting it down enough to make any sorta "OH I UNDERSTAND YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW IT RELATES TO YOUR RESPONSE!" breakthrough.

Her identity as a female gamer is not 50% of the gamer population..... You asked a question and I'll answer with one of my own. How did her identifying as a girl gamer negatively affect anyone enough that they felt the need to disparage her about it?

I felt it was a waste of time, and added nothing to the conversation. And due to how the internet works within the gaming culture ( how females tend to advertise their femininity to attract the attention of sexually frustrated boys in a male dominated arena), I questioned the motives of the person involved. If she just stated her point without bringing her reproductive organs into the conversation, the follow up points would be about what she said. Since her being male or female had nothing to do with what she said, I would suggest that in the future.

I posted a more in depth reply to this same issue a few times in here somewhere. There's a reason I find it fascinating when people identify in their OP's. I won't get too deep again. Also I made a nice long OP elsewhere that you can search by my name that explains why this bothers me. You're more than welcome to read and comment there as long as we keep it civil. I get what you're saying and I understand where you're coming from. I just don't agree with you. :)

And that is fine. But this is the internet. A person should be aware of their surroundings. Great speakers and debaters don't merely say whatever they want, they say it in a way that the audience will get. If a person brought up points that the majority of the viewership will ignore due to an insignificant point being added...well..that is really on the person. Not the viewership. Was your "in depth" reply the one about how much you admire the female brain because its more analytical? Because honestly, I didn't feel her post was really analyzing things correctly.

Not admire. I find the science pretty cool is all. The problem I see is that we've lost our need to be civil. If people thought her saying she was a girl was detracting from her post, why be an ass about it? If they felt she was seeking attention (she might have been, I don't know) why provide it by replying in a negative and denigrating mannor?

It was my round-a-bout way of letting a person know that gender doesn't ( and shouldn't ) matter I know, I know..I am one of those "lets treat everyone equal" sorta guys. I don't think a person's gender should have any bearing on an opinion that is not gender-related. I also, in the name of equality and treating men and women the same, will poke fun at anyone (my initial line was "civil" ) if I see them do something silly. The same way I would expect someone to call me out if I acted that way.
