*Edit: I have played the Hunter class a lot more since making this post, and I've edited the below to be more inline with my new experiences*
*Edit 2: I should mention that I almost always play Control. Tried the other modes, but I just don't like PvP with no objectives besides "kill people"*
Just some real quick context about me first. Destiny is my first FPS I've ever played on a console, and it's also the first time I've ever done PvP. Needless to say I had A LOT to learn but after some time I have gone from a .5 K/D ratio player to probably on average 1.5+ (varies between 1 and 3.5 depending on the map and team).
Part of my learning process was playing all of the sub-classes so that I could figure out their weaknesses, as well as just what kind of scenario they prefer. I read a lot of forum posts saying the Bladedancer took no skill and is OP, and the Titan is horribly underpowered. I certainly wasn't going to trust people making whiny posts on the forums so I thought I would try them all out myself before I started agreeing with the QQ'ers.
This is NOT an OP class, and is certainly not simple or easy to play. I will finish the post with detailing the reasons why, but keep in mind this is coming from a person who has absolutely no personal interest in the Bladedancer being nerfed.
1) The Super:
I think others perceive this as OP because there just tend to be a lot of hunters in the Crucible. It SEEMS like every minute the same guy is just herp derp Arc Blading through everyone but this definitely is not the case. First off, it is just annoying trying to approach a room full of people. I have to go invisible to really stand a chance because I certainly can't just run at them unless there is good cover between them and me. After that, YES you do have to aim the Arc Blade (somewhat). It doesn't need to be precise obviously, but I can't just blindly spam the melee button.
People have started to get smarter with avoiding Arc Blade too. Some jump/float away, others just kill me with their own super, but the worst thing people have learned to do is SCATTER. If 3 people all scatter in different directions and are shooting at me I would consider myself lucky to kill two of them.
The Nova Bomb is sooo much easier; People don't see this one coming. And with my Titan they don't know if I'm going to use my super or not when I'm running at them; it could be a Shoulder Charge followed by a Shotgun spree
*Edit: Basically, if I am playing a bad team I can get off 4+ kills with Arc Blade. Against a good team, I feel fortunate to get 2 kills.*
2. The Invisibility:
I don't know if the crouching has triggered the invisibility timer or not because it always takes a few seconds and there is no indication or timer on the screen. Sometimes I have been special ed'ing in a corner looking like I am trying to teabag something that isn't there just trying to go invisible and get off the radar.
You probably already know this, but you are super easy to spot while invisible if someone is looking right at you. This makes it super annoying when I've spent a few seconds going invisible and then some teammate comes running along the same path as me, completely ruining my surprise attack and getting me killed.
3. Blink Strike
I thought it was a one shot kill, it isn't (unless it hits from behind and I have invested in that perk). The reason why it seems like a one shot kill sometimes is that they shoot you then quickly follow up with a Blink Strike. The invisibility after hitting someone with it looks cool, but it has never fooled anyone.
4. The Grenades
Weakest of the 3 classes. There is one that can OSK, but I have to land it on you; Which takes skill to do (it isn't easy). Don't get made when I kill you with my fusion grenade.
Overall Conclusion
It is a nice change of pace from my Lock and Titan. I don't think this class is OP, I would call it balanced. However, if it were over performing the Invisibility is probably what makes it so; Everyone depends on the radar to know where people are at, so being able to sneak up behind someone WHILE RUNNING and take out 2 or even 3 people before they can react does at times feel out of balance.
It's not the Arc Blade though guys, seriously. It's simple: Arc Blade is better when the team is spread out, but somewhat close to each other and they don't see you coming. Every other super is better when they are all grouped up very close together.

I might just love you a little bit right now, OP :P I love the bladedancer skill tree for PvP, and think it's maybe the best chance of being "on par" with the other class's supers in terms of destructive power. That said, I've seen many wreck with the golden gun...but for now my preference is bladedancer... thanks for this post!

2 RespuestasYou're struggling as a blade dancer because you're using perks good for pve in Pvp. 1) stop using invisibility. Everyone can see you and there are much better perks in each tree 2) blink strike with fast twitch and hungering blade is the way to go. 2sec cooldown that regens health on kill beats the hell out of invisibility on strike. 3) the sticky grenades are way easier to use that you think. They're almost impossible to miss when you're in close, and a quick blink gets you far enough away from the blast.

Tbh I have never read into anything about this game i just bought it and started playing PvP cause i use to play Cod4 alot. I started as a Hunter and before i knew it i was Level 26 and unlocked everything there was, I had no Idea about subclasses and that you could make a titan/warlock account aswell so i just continued to play with my clumsy throwing knife and I still came out on top most games apart from when there was someone using super(i think lol the one that shoots some crazy bomb and kills like 5 people in one go) After reading this Im going to give Bladedancer a go

I disagree with your opinions on invisibility, blink strike, and grenades. First off blink strike Obviously not gonna be a one shot kill melee unless from behind, because its the subclasses ability. You're supposed to think of it like a commando lunge in modern warfare 2, its just a longer lunge than any other class, but it's still a melee regardless so of course it takes two hits on someone thats full health. And other than backstab, goin invis after a melee strike is super useful which goes to the next point. Invisibility Okay yeah humping the corner trying to proc the invis is pretty damn stupid and there should be a small meter or something counting down to it. But in terms of pvp, its actually creative to try and flank your opponents. Yes you wont fool anyone with that shiny active camo but notice your radar next time, your arrow is gone. Invisibility is a radar lovers arch enemy. With that information, and maybe a good fireteam, give that corner humping another chance, you might find yourself with a nice killing spree. Finally the grenades Yeahh the first one is so awful I don't even remember what it does. The second one is very situational, and sometimes I feel that its a waste of a grenade. But the third one, thats the bread and butter of blade dancers. Throw it in, let it do its job and clean up the stragglers. It's super useful for a quick sweep of a room to make sure there are no campers with that pesky shotgun or fusion rifle. As a trade off it only chains to two people in the area, with the exotic armor Lucky Raspberry, you get one more victim, plus always spawn with the grenade so its plenty of practice. Try this small combo: grenade, slide in, blink strike. It should make for an easy kill. Bladedancers are all about juking people and small engagements that are finished quickly. Sorry for this small lecture, again I totally respect your opinion, I just wanted to defend my favorite hunter subclass.

1 RespuestaOver all very well written and even though you don't have a high K/D (which doesn't matter in my opinion in team based games) or a high medal score you have played A TON of crucible, so the experience is there. I prefer Gunslinger over Bladedancer most matches in almost ever aspect. The only thing that you can abuse in Bladedancer, other then Arc Blade, is the enhanced slide, shotgun plus low blink cool down. It will always net you a kill if they don't get you in mid slide. And I almost never see people use it but the Gunslinger Tripmine Grenade is amazing once you learn to only throw them against walls so the trip lazer is horizontal. All in all I agree to what you posted, I think most powers are in a pretty good place if so many call each one over powered, but invisibility.... oh boy was I ever sad when I found out it's only useful for reviving in PvE. Best thing ever though was me and two team mates died to an Arc Blade at B on Bastion, no one was there but him but he just kept mashing R1 (RB) and went right into an idle pike blowing himself up. Was so damn funny fell off my chair lmao.

Arc Blade on can control I can see high kills if you catch a group trying to secure a point. I however can only imagine the frustration on Team Death Match. People are usually spread on this or hiding away in the most inconspicuous dark corner.

3 RespuestasThe forums were wrong on this one? The only person to play all classes has spoken.

..you serious?

Finally a perspective from someone who has actually played it... I've never seen anyone who has played BD complain about it.

30 RespuestasEditado por albinomachina: 10/16/2014 11:45:03 PMThe only problem I have with the Bladedancer is its shield. I have literally shot them in the face with a rocket launcher without killing them and then have them run up and one shot me with a knife. I have no problem dying to a bladedancer. If I allow one to get close enough to me to kill me with a knife, that's on me. But, the fact that they're invulnerable to anything short of a tactical nuclear bomb is what makes them so frustrating. edit - I play as a gunslinger hunter, and I don't have a super shield of invulnerability while I use my golden gun, which has at the most 3 kills in it. I have seen bladedancers get 5 kills with one arc blade in Control. No matter what anyone says, and by "anyone" I mean the people that use Bladedancers, its OP'd and needs a nerf. Badly.

I disagree, like you I have tried all 3 characters and ran all 6 sub classes to at least a decent extent, of the 6 the gun slinger and blade dancer are the best most OP supers. The beauty of them is that instead of using all of your super energy in 1 shot you can spread the love all over the map. The titan smash and nova bomb are only good for multi kills if the enemy team is bunched up on a flag or camping in a small room. The titan shield is great but easily countered by pretty much any of the other specials in most cases. The sunsinger self rez and grenade spam has its moments but probably 50% of the time i go for the self res i realize im surrounded by 2 or more of the enemy team and get slaughtered. The hunter supers have 1 distinct advantage if you activate it at a bad time or in a bad place u have probably 10 seconds to get to a better spot and capitalize. The other great part of the hunter is that with the golden gun especially you have the ability 2 get super kills hundreds of feet apart with the same super, and you can just as easily take out a clustered group with a few quick shots. The blade dancer has less range than the gg, however it is more dominant against groups, it is also the only super i have used that I can consistently get 4 or more kills with. All that being said I am completely fine with the hunter being the most op class in PVP because it blows in pve. The blade dancer is all but useless in a nightfall strike or against a boss, and the golden gun is barely an improvement over an exotic hand cannon in damage against most enemies, anything tougher than an acolyte wont die in just 1 shot.
-
I've played all sub-classes too, and I'm sorry, but if you know what you're doing with Arc Blade, it's definitely the most effective.
-
go home you're drunk blade dance is OP as fuarrk
-
Continue nerfing hunter and it will be totally useless in PVE. Just saying.

4 RespuestasIt is natural for people to defend their class, heck we all do lol. I think the biggest problem people have with Blade dancer is that they are almost invincible when going on a killing spree and they have the ability to move around and hunt down other targets. Titans and warlocks - we have panic supers and and aoe , so perhaps that is the trade off. I do not like huntards but I think that nerfing blade dancer too much will destroy pvp. Too all the huntards out there.. I enjoy killing you when you pop blade dance(only way I can is with foh),but is all part of the fun. p.s I can't believe I defended huntards lol. Sure the blade dancer should not be able to take as much damage as they g

2 RespuestasFrom also playing all classes, I can tell you that blade dancer is the easiest to use. Just use blink and a fusion rifle or shotty and an auto rifle. Don't use invisibility. Use arc bolt grenades or flux. The class by itself is balanced. The special is slightly op as it nets way more kills than another special. That health regain is awesome and the teleporting whilst meleeing acts as a damage reducer. How can this be the class you do worst on lol?
About 25% of the time crouching doesn't make me invisible. The worst part is that I don't know if the crouching has triggered the invisibility timer or not because it always takes a few seconds and there is no indication or timer on the screen.
There is a cool-down time that starts after invisibility wears off whether you stand or crouch, but I don't know the exact amount of time you have to wait.

Editado por Mi7iTiA: 10/17/2014 3:54:27 AMBladedancer for life!!!!!..def not OP...it's UP if you ask me..takes skill to use it

Welp. New leaked subclasses, hunter seems to be getting the short end of the stick. So who cares, the nerf will just match the next sub-par subclass. Most likely they will change it, but it aint lookin so pretty now. Gunslinger ftw.
-
I find bladedancer to work pretty well in multiplayer but in pve it's pretty bad. You don't always 1 hit every enemy and you're super vulnerable especially on nightfalls and the raid. Still love playing as it though :)

5 RespuestasShut up, it's OP and getting nerfed. No sense in posting noob arguments like this, Bungie isn't reading this.

Editado por Slippe: 10/17/2014 2:35:44 AMI have played all 6 subclasses as well. And Blade Dancer's super in the Crucible is OP. Now Hunter is my main, and I wouldn't be saying this unless it's true. At least in my opinion and many others. Main reason. AUTO AIM. You say there isn't. But i've used the Blade Dancer quite a bit in PvE and PvP. You can actually just spam the button. The enemies just need to be in your screen, or very close to being in your screen. If anyone that hasn't used the Blade Dancer wants to test out this auto aim for themselves. You can, without even making a Hunter! Go to the Sword of Crota and you can test it. The sword is a slower version of Arc Blade, with no damage reduction. You can literally lunge at people that are barely in your screen from either sides. It is very ridiculous. Taking out the auto aim, and having it so you need to have a cursor near or on your enemy to lunge at them and kill would be a way to make the super fall more in line with others. Also people saying you can shotgun blast them 1 shot. Ehh... not really. Unless you are right in there face, with no room. But that is unlikely due to them going to lunge at you from a distance. I've tested it. PS: Reason the invisibility isn't working for you, is that you need to stay still. Completely still while crouching. I don't move my character or my screen to be safe if I am trying to go invisible.

4 RespuestasHow is warlock subclass grenades

2 RespuestasHonestly, Bladedancer is a terrible class whose only saving grace is Arcblade. It's all flash and Invisibility is only really useful in PvE to revive teammates when you haven't properly taken care of the ADDs. Provided you have good aim, Gunslinger stomps all over Bladedancer. I love both, but Gunslinger >>>>> Bladedancer, no contest.

2 RespuestasEditado por jdotzz117: 10/17/2014 4:03:48 AMHunter grenades are trash. That is true. Also Hunters don't seem to have a one hit KO melee ability as opposed to Titans and Warlocks
