*Edit: I have played the Hunter class a lot more since making this post, and I've edited the below to be more inline with my new experiences*
*Edit 2: I should mention that I almost always play Control. Tried the other modes, but I just don't like PvP with no objectives besides "kill people"*
Just some real quick context about me first. Destiny is my first FPS I've ever played on a console, and it's also the first time I've ever done PvP. Needless to say I had A LOT to learn but after some time I have gone from a .5 K/D ratio player to probably on average 1.5+ (varies between 1 and 3.5 depending on the map and team).
Part of my learning process was playing all of the sub-classes so that I could figure out their weaknesses, as well as just what kind of scenario they prefer. I read a lot of forum posts saying the Bladedancer took no skill and is OP, and the Titan is horribly underpowered. I certainly wasn't going to trust people making whiny posts on the forums so I thought I would try them all out myself before I started agreeing with the QQ'ers.
This is NOT an OP class, and is certainly not simple or easy to play. I will finish the post with detailing the reasons why, but keep in mind this is coming from a person who has absolutely no personal interest in the Bladedancer being nerfed.
1) The Super:
I think others perceive this as OP because there just tend to be a lot of hunters in the Crucible. It SEEMS like every minute the same guy is just herp derp Arc Blading through everyone but this definitely is not the case. First off, it is just annoying trying to approach a room full of people. I have to go invisible to really stand a chance because I certainly can't just run at them unless there is good cover between them and me. After that, YES you do have to aim the Arc Blade (somewhat). It doesn't need to be precise obviously, but I can't just blindly spam the melee button.
People have started to get smarter with avoiding Arc Blade too. Some jump/float away, others just kill me with their own super, but the worst thing people have learned to do is SCATTER. If 3 people all scatter in different directions and are shooting at me I would consider myself lucky to kill two of them.
The Nova Bomb is sooo much easier; People don't see this one coming. And with my Titan they don't know if I'm going to use my super or not when I'm running at them; it could be a Shoulder Charge followed by a Shotgun spree
*Edit: Basically, if I am playing a bad team I can get off 4+ kills with Arc Blade. Against a good team, I feel fortunate to get 2 kills.*
2. The Invisibility:
I don't know if the crouching has triggered the invisibility timer or not because it always takes a few seconds and there is no indication or timer on the screen. Sometimes I have been special ed'ing in a corner looking like I am trying to teabag something that isn't there just trying to go invisible and get off the radar.
You probably already know this, but you are super easy to spot while invisible if someone is looking right at you. This makes it super annoying when I've spent a few seconds going invisible and then some teammate comes running along the same path as me, completely ruining my surprise attack and getting me killed.
3. Blink Strike
I thought it was a one shot kill, it isn't (unless it hits from behind and I have invested in that perk). The reason why it seems like a one shot kill sometimes is that they shoot you then quickly follow up with a Blink Strike. The invisibility after hitting someone with it looks cool, but it has never fooled anyone.
4. The Grenades
Weakest of the 3 classes. There is one that can OSK, but I have to land it on you; Which takes skill to do (it isn't easy). Don't get made when I kill you with my fusion grenade.
Overall Conclusion
It is a nice change of pace from my Lock and Titan. I don't think this class is OP, I would call it balanced. However, if it were over performing the Invisibility is probably what makes it so; Everyone depends on the radar to know where people are at, so being able to sneak up behind someone WHILE RUNNING and take out 2 or even 3 people before they can react does at times feel out of balance.
It's not the Arc Blade though guys, seriously. It's simple: Arc Blade is better when the team is spread out, but somewhat close to each other and they don't see you coming. Every other super is better when they are all grouped up very close together.

Bungie pls nerf

1 RespuestaFact if you play a sub class long enough you will be good with it
-
9 subclass m8
-
Just a quick note on blink strike. Many of the one hitters were due to collision damage occurring when blinkstike was set off. There was some sort of bug, believe it was fixed last week.

9 RespuestasI have also played each subclass; all of which are maxed out except for the defender on my Titan (still working on him but got most of the important perks on him). So I have some knowledge on each of the classes and how they play. This is just some back story on why I have the opinions that I have. Players tend to decide wether a class is OP or UP on personal experience rather than data that is provided by an unbiased source. This is one such post and I can respect his opinion on the subject; but this can also lead to personal opinion being used as facts. Facts are that a majority of the leading pvp'ers are hunters. Destinydb.com state that of the top 10 players; 7 are hunters. Top 20; 15 are hunters and top 30; 20 are hunters. I could go on. Based on an outdated class distributions chart I found; classes are spread evenly through out destiny. (If someone can find a more up to date data on class distribution this would help.) If so we should find that top players should be distributed evenly between all classes. However we don't find this to be true; there has to be a reason why hunters are over represent in pvp. The answer would have to be that they are OP in some form. Personally I think that their super last too long. But that is an opinion.

Editado por BaconNinja: 11/29/2014 7:07:54 AMWow, was surprised to see this post on the 1st page again. I am going to edit the above post after playing with the Hunter a lot more, and also I am working on a montage video of arc blade fails :)

12 RespuestasSo, if you can't just "spam ur melee in bladedancer mode" why does every hunter do it? I cringe everytime a hunter kills me and then keeps meleeing even though there is NO ONE else in the room... hunter such noobs.... oh and then he goes outside, kill 2 more ppl... cuz 1 person cannot kill a bladedancing hunter 1on1 unless they are extremely lucky and or have heavy/super
-
1 RespuestaMy favourite combo with the Bladedancer is to throw an arcbolt grenade at 2 people then blink above them, blink strike to finish off one then shoot the other in the face with my handcannon. I also find Bladedancers to fit the assassin role very well, it doesnt always work but I often find that I am able to take someone out right in the middle of an area occupied by the enemy team then make my escape. I never feel OP but Bladedancers have a lot of potential to outplay people and I love that.
-
Yeah it gets really annoyin getting spammed with messages of noob after I have a 2.0 kd in crucible running a blade dancer when it is so difficult to run correctly
-
Thank you. I agree with this.

1 RespuestaTitan is by far the most powerful class, followed up Warlock, and then Hunter. Warlocks and Hunters are on a pretty even playing field (besides the self-revive super, but that's a rare occasion, so not a big deal). Titans are just too powerful for their own good. You have the High armor/high damage strikers that can panic nuke a room and walk away fine, and then there's the defender subclass that's lower in damage, but super high at tanking, which makes it quite the formidable foe. Just to make this clear, I'm talking strictly about Crucible. In the PvE, they all have very vital roles.

Pocket infinity=melted bladedancer 8 out of 10 time or foh=dead bladedancer and I used to think they were op lol
-
need people for PvP who have MIC's (PS3).I play mostly PvP and just the hard pve modes so I'm playing PvP 75% of the time but the problem is I'm in a clan and allied with a couple other clans but no one plays PvP regularly like I do so I end up playing by myself constantly. My proposition is if you play mostly PvP and have a MIC add me and we will run in a group. PSN: jscrazzy Comment so I know your sending a request Lvl30 hunter 27 warlock If you play mostly PvE, DO NOT ADD ME

17 RespuestasWow, someone being honest about the Blade dancer subclass? Blade dancer is not OP but Gunslinger is probably the weakest subclass, or at least the one that takes the most skill to use. If you're looking at things without bias Titan is the OP class (please don't nerf it though). For power ranking I'd say Striker > Nova Bomb > Defender > Sunsinger >Blade dancer >Gunslinger. Although the top four can probably be rearranged in any order depending on preference both of the Hunter sublasses take a bit more skill to be successful. If you are a Hunter/Gunslinger using a Hand cannon in Crucible and doing well. YOU ARE GOOD AT THIS GAME AND I TIP MY HAT TO YOU.

1 RespuestaCongrats dude, this is also your first MMO too :D

4 RespuestasAbout the Invisibility, did you consider (or even know) that you are not on the radar when invisible? The best use of it is sneaking up behind people or close to important points on the map without anyone knowing you are coming

51 RespuestasEditado por Bicepus Maximus: 10/17/2014 3:28:32 PMHow about you guys use critical thinking and see how many Hunters are in the top spots in the 100, 500, even 10,000 leaderboards. The ratio alone is cause for concern. This debate has morphed into a ridiculous joke. Of course Hunters are OP and there is absolutely no way the class will not get nerfed. Apparently, a bunch of biases Hunters think they can post nonsense in a sad attempt to stop their OP broken class from getting much needed nerfs. Sorry but logic, facts, and common sense support a nerf. It is the only reasonable conclusion so stop embarrassing yourselves. Lol.. I have to admit it is entertaining but.... starting to feel sorry for you Huntards.

4 RespuestasEditado por Veriscari: 10/17/2014 8:26:41 AMBlade dancer is by far the strongest special. If you are not getting around 3-5 kills with it everytime you just are not very good, you can literally blink right up to some1 hit once move on to target 2. It is insanely strong. I find playing as titan or warlock I need to keep my ult ready for when the blade dancer comes for me, I dont like being forced to keep my special for one situation. Also mask of the third man and encore make it last ages.

2 RespuestasThe fact that there are so many Bladedancers in PvP says all that needs to be said. People generally use the thing/class that will help them win the easiest. Bladedancer is the best class for PvP.

Hell yea! A true trooper!

Love this post. A+ for you good sir.

Thank you for this

I do agree, the bladedancer class isn't as strong as others. It's difficult to aim, it's just terrible in pvp and I rarely use it in strikes or missions. But the hunter was my first character when I got the game. And I made the decision to go into the bladedancer subclass when I reached level 15. Overall I'm happy with it. I've learned the ins and outs of all the different perks and abilities for thar class. I've found a good combination of everything that in the end it turned out to be worth it. Sure the invisibility isn't great, but many times I've been crouching to recover a base and the invisibility activated. Then the other teams walks in to grab the base and I activate my super and catch them off guard. You just have to know how to use each class. As for strikes and missions, I've played enough to know where and when enemies spawn and what doors the come through so I can plan when to do what. I think hunters have a game disadvantage, but that makes them a stronger class. You have to spend time to learn what works. Everybody is going to always think that each class is bad, that other classes are better, that this class or this item should be nerfed. The game was developed as balanced as bungie could make it. They had dev teams that spent countless hours and days working on each class, each weapon, fine-tuning it to be perfect; so long as you know how to make it perfect. This game is a mmorpg as well as a strategy game.

2 RespuestasThe trick to crucible, don't be bad.
