I put Destiny on hold last night to watch the Guardian Radio live stream with DeeJ. I think there were so many topics covered last night that it would be hard for me to coherently voice how I feel about each point. I just wanted to start a thread to provide the link to the video to further discussion here on the forums. Feel free to post here about any responses you have to the video, or any topics you wished had made it into the discussion. This is a repost. original thread was buried under other topics.

2 Respuestasbasic answers.. translation: - "bungie has a game and is glad its out, no matter how people react.." - we barely made it to the release date due to unforseen circumstances - "we are happy that it is working and we consider to upgrade it during the gaming period" . well basically hes saying that they put a semi finished project on the market and will polish /finish it later.. - " there is a limited amount of hours / people, Braincells at bungie " they have underestimated the amount of change needed and complaints , since they only have the manpower to work on a VERY limited range of updates and fixes.. - "does power matter" Deej had no clue about the Iron banner , DESPITE he had to advertise it.. - "we want to be as inclusive as possble" -- Sorry PvPers, this never gonna be real competitive" - "i am not in promise mode" someone else than bungie is pulling the strings and we need permission to do changes .. etc..

I was all set for an eve of imported German fetishism. This made me limp.

"Oh this interview sounds cool! Let's listen to it." >Opens video >Hour and a half long "On second thought, I'll just get back to FL Studio."

14 Respuestasi have never heard so much bs and lies in my life. wtf is he talking about? what part of the community are they listening too? destiny is the biggest lie in gaming history. nothing bungie said about it was true. damage control comes to mind with this. bungie got their money back now they are just sitting there loling at us. 10 million ppl bought destiny. 3 million log in every day? 66% drop make that 50% being dced reloging back in to destiny every day multiple times and only 1.5 million log on a day. bungie thinks the game is going well with 85% of the ppl who bought destiny do not log in to play it ??? they have lost their minds or realize its so bad they are using their best poker face at the final hand hoping no one else notices before they bust. destiny is nothing more then the beta. 4 years of development.... where? destiny has a very short pve story and pvp is messed up no one can fix it. on top of that patches and hot fixes are making everything worse. the review Angry Joe did was spot on right. anyone else seeing all this????

1 RespuestaDeeJ, stop explaining to everyone what your job is and just do your job, we will understand what your job is by how you actually do it. Take a course on "Listening" at Bellevue Community College and develop that skill. Listening does not mean accommodating every request, but saying "My job is to listen now" over and over again is not actually listening either. Listening is a skill that one must actively develop and is a difficult process to understand and become effective at. You are still focused on your own perspective, and the perspective of protecting the studios interests and efforts that went into the development, so much so that you were not even giving this interview your full attention and were playing Patrol on Mars while you were supposedly listening to these interviewers concerns. When you say things like "I'm not the story guy" you are putting in place a defense, a separation that concerns about story, character, narrative, plot arc, lore, etc. are actually not being listened to, let alone even heard at a basic level, by you, the guy who keeps on saying that you are the listening guy. The point about how Thorn is presented as a story issue is an amazingly poignant example and instead of addressing the actual point you ignored it and talked about how people are coming back to play the game and you are trying to figure out what it is that is making them come back. Let me spell it out for you: We keep coming back because we are waiting and hoping that examples like this Thorn bounty are actually implemented in a story telling manner more substantial than text on a bounty item. Stop telling us you are listening and actually listen.

well that was a waist of time listening too

1 RespuestaIt's interesting hearing people harp on about story. I played 700 hours of Battlefield 3 and 4 and a bit of Call of Duty multiplayer and never had a minute of story. On the other hand I played Metal Gear Solid 4 and was bored to tears by over 4 hours of story. I love destiny and the way the PvP is integrated into the PvE, but I would like a switch I could throw to skip the cut scenes completely and just get into the action. If I have to fly a spaceship I'd at least like to be able to engage in combat (or sight seeing) on the way. Sparrow racing would be very cool. Similarly I would like to go from Patrol to Strike or Mission without having to go back to Orbit. Just let me shoot shit and I'll be happy. If I want story I'll buy the game guide. Regards, aik

1 Respuesta1:03:30 Mark Bullshit about why they didn't put matchmaking on the Raid, wrapping up with how Bungie has made a game people can barely lose at to protect their feelings when they lose, because golly people don't want to be losers when they buy something. Bungie clearly is protecting people from feeling like they suck at the game, so they engineer the game so that people can't suck too bad (or get stomped as badly, like the neutered Iron Banner) or won't suck at all (like keeping matchmaking out of Raids so that randoms won't walk into getting clobbered) as if eventually people wouldn't adapt. Nevermind, maybe the first Raid released for the -blam!-ing game shouldn't have been so overly long. Maybe it shouldn't have ended in that convoluted bullshit Atheon fight and its mess of teleportation and suicide bomber adds. Maybe the first Raid in the goddamned game shouldn't have been quite so demanding that one guy on the team could break the mission at a given step and put everyone in a position where random matchmaking was questionably feasible. Maybe they should stop building the game around the maniacs if they're so concerned about people feeling like they suck, because last time I looked only several tens of thousands of people had completed the -blam!-ing Raid at all. Maybe they should try to provide a fair experience instead of a protective experience.

NO BUNGIE. NO I DONT WANT TO JUST SHOOT THINGS FOR THE -blam!- OF IT. I WANT IT TO HAVE A MEANING. HELLO, WHAT WAS THE STORY FOR? I swear, it still feels like you are experiment on the beta just to see how well the servers play. Like, every misssiom is the same, you always have the same batch of enemies attacking you. Wtf, Im not a child, Come TF ON.

4 RespuestasThe idea that they can't still add some story elements to the game is erroneous.

Any of this answered ? http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/77938365/0/0/1

3 RespuestasI feel like they don't want to admit that anything is "off the table" or not possible because that would encourage people to stop playing and in effect stop spending money on DLC's. I believe Upton Sinclair wrote this "It's difficult to get a man to understand something if his salary depends upon his not understanding it."

1 RespuestaEditado por bored28: 10/16/2014 4:13:20 PMBy the time you figure out what this game should be, most folks will have moved on. This isn't like the Halo days when people hang around because Bungie is the only thing available. AAA games are coming out every other month now so one needs to be exceptional, not mediocre, in order to succeed. In my mind, if they are proud of the state that this game was released in then that is the beginning of the end for the game.

I watched the entire thing and didn't hear Deej answer any actual questions, just responding to compliments :/

11 RespuestasGuardian Radio asked the questions that everyone has been asking on the forums. They didn't pull any punches. Deej gave the best replies he could with the information that he has, I'm sure if there was rock solid information on anything he would have divulged or hinted at it. He was pretty clear and brutally honest about what the decision making process is like. He catches himself when he's rambling and always pulls himself back on point, nobody ever has to call him on evading a question. He addressed every point he was asked about. This was his response to the community's posts here. There are hundreds of threads on the same topic, do you really need him to post in each? He gave the info he has, and that was probably the best method to put it out there if you really think about it. He never gets defensive, unless it was to defend the players. I'm not sure what else could have been asked of a human being in his position.

7 RespuestasAs much as I rag on DeeJ, he honestly seems like a good guy. And to be fair? He's good at his job -- I admire the way he carries himself and I only indicate him as the leader of the evil Bungie army because he's the most public face, not because it's actually his fault. Beyond that point, nothing can change the fact that this story is pathetic and I get the feeling that the Destiny Development Team made the initial mission based story-line and then called it a day. Seriously, look at every other activity in this game and you can find it rooted in a story mission you unlock at some point along the story. They didn't create new enemy mechanics or level designs for what is supposed to be new content -- bar Vault of Glass. They didn't even change enemy spawn points nor their attack patterns. They made the initial levels, handed it to the story dev.'s and called it a day, telling them that they weren't going to create any new levels and that it was up to them to create fresh "Levels" based off the old levels. "Laziness" is the first word that comes to mind when playing Destiny and when you have a 300 million plus budget -- ask people and the number ranges from 100 million to 500, so I think 300 is safe -- the amount of work put into this game is just straight troubling. Either they added locked disc content and are refusing to release it until you pay the additional $19.99 or they STILL have yet to work on it, and that's even MORE worrying! How is this all you have to offer with a 300 million budget!?! Eight hours of actual game-play and then just grinding? Also, his explanation for the Grimoire was seriously lacking and I was disappointed in it. He didn't explain anything or why that was decided by Bungie as a wise course of action. It's not DeeJ's job to explain why that was decided, but I would wish he'd answer something about it instead of going off on a tangent, saying how much he loves clan fighting and other Destiny aspects each time he's asked in the interview. That was just irritating. I like the game, I would love it if I didn't get these feelings when playing the game. It's good, but it's not great. It's fun but not memorable. You know what though? It could reach every single one of those higher levels if the story wasn't garbage, the level design wasn't so repetitive and linear, and that more evident effort was put into the game, among other things. I hope they really improve upon these points in the future or in Destiny 2, because I can tell you for a fact that I won't be buying any of these DLC's -- instead opting to just play the game as it is -- and I won't be buying Destiny 2 upon launch. I will not be duped again, because that is exactly how I feel right now.

8 RespuestasEditado por Gunship: 10/15/2014 11:15:03 PMNo one wants to read the frakkin grimoire cards AT ALL. Putting them on the loading screens? Are you kidding me? We want full cinematic story. And for those who don't want that - give them a skip button.

You need to retitle this thread to 'Deej wriggles, dodges and swerves like a -blam!-ing tripping ninja'

Editado por shmeena83: 10/16/2014 1:05:35 PMHe said nothing by saying a lot. STORY. This isn't COD. GIVE us the STORY promised. It's right on the box, a promise of incredible story telling and cinematics; of which are only three piss poor ones. If I wanted a bland shooter I'd play COD. I invested in Destiny for STORY. Worst rep ever. "When I finally get the controller I just wanna shoot things". That explains a lot. Then, Deej, play COD. Bungie... FAIL.

7 RespuestasI still think Activision and Bungie overestimated the Bungie brand loyalty. They thought we would be satisfied, or at least patient, with whatever they put out because they made Halo. Based upon Destiny's rocky rollout, I'm starting to believe that Microsoft's control over Halo is a major factor for Halo's success, and question whether giving Bungie free reign over the Halo universe would have been a good idea.

All I took from that is we all got TRION'D An as far as matchmaking goes just because someone doesnt have a mic doesnt mean their shit players! I am deaf in real life and get around in fire teams just fine! Matchmaking would make it easier due to times clannies arent online when I am

2 RespuestasEditado por LeopardDawg: 10/15/2014 8:39:23 PMIt was more painful listening to Byf and his obnoxious attitude than it was listening to Deej try to do his job while balancing what he wants to say. I understand Byf is frustrated with some aspects of the game but he was basically just raging at Deej by telling him what Byf expects and how Byf is right and how they better listen to him because he knows better. It was unprofessional, and even the other reviewers got awkward after Byf's rants and snarky comments. He ruined an otherwise good show. Deej doesn't actually have much to do with the development other than to be a filter from the community. He's a PR guy and has limitations, which will annoy everyone. Byf is sort of a jackass. I used to kind of like him, but he came off as horribly arrogant in this episode.

8 RespuestasProblem i have with this interview: The Problems and troubles with Destiny are SO tremendous BIG, that i would expect a crysis session with Deej and the Dev Team to talk about BIG changes, not "variations".. its like guys started to make an MMO who have HEARD about an MMO but never played one.. on subtitles instead of Cutscenes, Additional Content with NO add to the Story, or any addition others than some fancy colored gear that you got elsewhere.. stuck vendors with the same shit for weeks.. mini "anti"-social areas where players are not allowed to talk to each other.. (serious; the ONLY real social Hub was the Lootcave, because you could do something usefull while having time to interact.. ) WAY to little to NO customization possibillities to your char.. and and and.. the game REALLY feel and looks like first try.. nothing has changed since the Alpha and the footage we all have been seeing was even BETTER than the actual Game content.. there is missing SOO much from this game that people were expecting from a dev crew that made halo. but it looks like a total new crew made it.. and im super sceptical about the DLC:. if there isnt an addition to the lore and SUBSTANCIAL changes to the game mechanics and the way people are allowed to interact including CHOICES so that bungie can finally keep their promise that we can play it OUR way, the dlc will be done in couple of hours.. seriously if it only contains 5 strikes and a raid... the first ones will be done til noon.. and THEN the rage will beginn.. the dlc must be at LEAST as long (not big) as the original or players will get even more annoyed since this is the basically the last chance for bungie to keep the mayority of the players, i know i know, the fanboys will stay and the "true blabla" players.. but the ones that love to play for entertainment , will simply turn.. i will check the DLC on twitch PSlive or other platforms, and check the content and if i think its 4 hours then its the end of destiny.. for me.. since it is already repetitive and unrewarding like hell..
