So obviously a lot of people see buying Exotics for Strange Coins as cheap.
Others think it's no different from RNG drops because you still have to earn the strange coins in order to afford the aforementioned exotics.
Here's what I think (for anyone interested):
BOTH and NEITHER
Bit paradoxical I know, but let me explain.
How many people out there dislike the RNG drops for completing missions and matches? Compare that to how many people genuinely like it. I'm indifferent to it personally, but it has it's frustrating moments. There have been countless posts of people coming into Strikes at the last possible moment and claiming Exotic gear as a reward while the people who put the work in get junk.
Xur offsets the frustration of grinding countless Raids, Strikes, Heroic Missions, whatever. Strange coins are a guaranteed drop from certain missions, therefore you are guaranteed a way of getting exotic gear.
While it is always a great feeling to be rewarded an Exotic helmet for the Nightfall Strike, it's pretty irritating to be told "Only for Titan Class" upon inspection. Great news for Multi-Class users, bad for Specialists.
But hey, at least you Specialists can dismantle it, and buy an Exotic helmet for your class instead. 'Phew' not a total waste of time after all.
Xur still randomly picks the items for sale, so it is still an RNG method of getting Exotics (Even if he does enjoy trolling the Warlocks LOL), preventing players from just buying the best weapons and/or armour from the start. If you want something in particular, you still have to hope it drops or pops up for sale.
So basically, if you feel like you ought to have earned something exotic by now but are still waiting, there is Xur. If you have the stuff you want, you don't need Xur, except to upgrade your sparrow. Simply put, no-one putting in the hard work to earn Exotic gear can be 'burned' bad luck because you still get the Strange Coins to purchase them. Either way, it's not like you can choose what one you get, because Xur shuffles his stock the same way the missions randomise your rewards.
SHORT VERSION
Because of the RNG nature of drops. Some people will be swimming in Exotics, whilst others will still be trying to get their first one despite having played since Day 1. Xur prevents frustration for players who just aren't lucky enough to get one dropped for them.
As for the "Change Exotic Weapons to Exotic Bounties" debate. Each Exotic bounty has a specific reward attached to it, so the only difference would be that you buy it and have to play for an extra hour or two to use the weapon. Which seems pointless to me since you remove the ability to preview the weapon and decide if you actually want it or not.

Lol who cares.

1 RespuestaThats well put but all I was trying to put out there before 10yr olds started trolling is some guns xur SHOULDNT sell thats all. Sell the same ones every week. A primary, a special, a heavy then maybe sell bounties too I like that idea.

2 RespuestasRather you turn in strange coins or pray to RNGesus, you're still grindin it out. In reality, no one knows what exotics Xur brings each week, so there is an element of randomness there practically identical to that of actual drop rates, only those that rely on Xur alone are limited to one drop a week. The frustration I've observed seems to revolve around the over saturation of exotics in the game, which is happening because wonky RNG(not entirely Bungie's fault, it's tough on such large scales) AND because there is a sure fire way to obtain one weekly. This results in a system is utilized by almost EVERYONE to it's max(even those of you that bitch about Xur, you can lie to others all you want, but you can't lie to yourself. You've bought from him). I'm not pointing fingers, doing just the opposite in fact. There is a problem of too many exotics for sure, but it's not Xur's fault or it's not the fault of RNGesus hating on some and loving others. It's that there's no exotic cap. Ensue the mass flame and hate, oh noooessss, but think about it. Being limited to obtaining one or two pieces a week(I'm fine with one, personally) assures that exotics will see less hands and will still give people the option of cashing out once a week with Xur if RNGesus just completey decided to shit in their cereal(which he still can again because lolarmortariumwtfever being sold two weeks in a row).

18 RespuestasIn my 100+ hours these are my exotics Not a single drop from an enemy in the entire time played. Thorn - Bounty Bad JuJu - Bounty Peace n Time - Crucible Red Death - Xur Suros - Xur Ice Breaker - Xur Hunter Helm - Xur Chest apha lupi - Xur Where I do feel Xur is useful, its easy to get spoiled by him. Either make Xur harder to find with changing locations each hour, more expensive, or limit one exotic per week, or have him come every two weeks instead. Its to easy to stack up strange coins.

1 RespuestaI have received two legendaries as end of match rewards. No exotics. I've received three legendaries as drops. No exotics. I have received two exotic bounties. If I put in a week's worth of hours and have virtually no luck with RNG, why should I not be able to buy that chest piece I wanted? I reckon I've "earned it" more than those fellahs who have a dozen exotics, the guys who seemingly get high level gear every time they sneeze. It's random, I'm not going to complain about that. Sometimes I just have to make. My own luck.

1 RespuestaI say make him more expensive. By doing that people my not buy everything from him week to week. It help keep exotics more rare.
-
1 RespuestaI usually play on Xbox one but play destiny on my ps4 so I have no friends on ps4. Having Xur allows me to get exotics. Grinding out the weekly strikes is difficult to go it alone to get coins, so it's not cheap in my opinion. I would much rather have a fire team in order to get exotics. Just my humble but accurate opinion.

5 RespuestasWhen I bought my first exotic, I feel like I earned it more than someone who got it from RNG. I earned those coins, I didn't just get a lucky drop.
-
1 RespuestaI think instead of gear and weapons xur should sell exotic modifications like 45 coins for a piece that you can put on any exotic primary and give it a random element

3 RespuestasEditado por Dan J Huls: 10/25/2014 12:57:05 AMI assume that's the point if the raid, rare stuff you can use that has it's own unique stuff on par or exceeding exotic overall, while maintaining legendary tier to be used without restriction, and with only one way to acquire them. Maybe exotics are limited sub top tier, raid gear is mythic. uncommon<rare<legendary<mythic \<exotic

4 RespuestasEveryone seems to think exotic means exclusive. The only thing exotic about these guns are the Percs. If people wanna get upset, it should be about every exotic gun being the same. some should have different exotic Percs. Making them more rare/collectible/and actually exotic. At least that's how I see it.

3 RespuestasMy argument is that there its a huge barrier to doing heroics nightfall and raids, and that is the weapons. I had almost all legendary armor but i couldn't do my part in dmg to succeed with the higher end content. I need 4coins but that auto rifle will masked a huge difference

1 RespuestaThe only ppl complaining about xur are the special eddie's that are like,"durrr mai exhotik noh maik meh durrr specsol anemorh! Meh sadd end but soare durrr."
-
1 RespuestaI like this post.

7 RespuestasThere is no debate. Bungie has no intention of doing any changes to or getting rid of Xur. So either suck it up, or I dont know, quit playing I guess, but either way there is no debate.
-
1 RespuestaI agree. It is great for people who aren't as lucky.
-
1 RespuestaVery nice post. Agree with you
-
4 RespuestasI kind of agree. I just thought him selling the breaker was going a bit far. Now that me and ALL my friends have it Boss fights are almost too easy. I know people bitch because they say "I worked for mine" I on the other hand don't really care what someone else has. It's just that EVERYONE having a ton of the top weapons makes things too easy.
