I bought Gjallahorn, Suros, Red Death, AND Icebreaker... I earned them.
EDIT: I fixed the thread up a bit. Came off a bit too aggressive than I intended.
I am a collector of sorts and I found that collecting these exotic weapons have a certain special place in my heart.
No, I did not "earn" these through RNG (which is not earning at all).
In fact buying these from Xur is much closer to 'earning' than getting lucky with an RNG drop from crucible after bottoming the list.
Using dozens of coins I have 'earned' from the daily story AND the weekly heroic missions is more true to earning these exotics than being the ONLY one in a raid group of 6 lucky enough to pull an exotic weapon out of VoG.
I have earned my shit through hours of playing these story missions and weekly heroic strikes.
Oh you found your Icebreaker as a drop running patrol missions on Mars? I call that LUCKY.
I bought a gun with 17 strange coins saved up after playing Heroic and the story missions when available.
I call that 'Earned'.

2 RespuestasAt this point, I've managed to gather about 4 exotic weapons. The Last Word, I got from a Legendary Engram. Red Death and Icebreaker, I bought. Now, Bad JuJu I legitimately earned through hard work. Exotic bounties are not easy.. They take some effort befitting and exotic gun. I personally think that's the only real way to "earn" an exotic. I'm also working on Very Good Advice now!

Thank you I completely agree with you Sure they could have sold ice breaker for a little more but what's done is done Just because everyone else got there icebreaker from a drop and I bought mine from Xür doesn't make it any better it's still the same gun so everyone needs to get over themselves and just play the game

I wouldn't even care at all because I also earned my strange coins and bought those weapons, except for the fact that I have never gotten anything from the VOG except for a Red Death drop off Aethon and guaranteed shader, and to that end I say I fully understand the moot point that everyone has focused themselves on about drops versus bought and where everyone needs to redirect their anger within the current loot debacle. Who cannot complain, Those that got the drops from random trash mobs, strikes or pvp rounds, may have farmed their way to success as much as the next guy who bought it, so way to go you all earned an exotic/legendary. Those who can complain, Everyone who has been rewarded for doing the raid with a second <insert exotic that has been reduced to shards> and only shards from every loot source in the raid. So the problem as I see it with the current loot system is that currently pvp should have a reward system based on match rank with similar rewards to tiger strikes(just a patchwork fix nothing to do with the other balancing issues ironbanner or not) and that the Raid should give you at least a roll on solely exotics or legendary raid gear/weapons not including shards/energy in the roll from at least one boss.
