Hey there! I am happy to see some logical and thought out criticism of the game rather than just complaining or wanting money back.
Let me offer a few explanations for your gripes.
With Atheon, his projectiles have a massive blast radius. This is to prevent people from hiding behind certain ledges that could be considered camping, and all in all, to make is harder.
Now, the shield will block most of the blast radius rendering them Nullified. However, even though the cleanse shield is a sphere, it actually has a bit of trouble blocking attacks below the horizon of it of the horizontal middle, is has even more trouble with this if is hits a piece of geometry first and then the blast radius eminates from below the horizon. It doesn't't happen all the time. But it can happen.
With the Iron Banner. The Max damage percent from a level 2 to 30 is only a 2% difference. Deej addressed this and will address this in the weekly update (hopefully) tommorrow. So really, that 2% difference over players health (200) is virtually nothing. So there is no real difference In the Iron Banner EXCEPT high impact weapons such as handcannons. They do a bit more damage although not a huge amount more. It is noticible though.

I know what you mean about the complaints as I used to be a department manager at a Wal-mart super center. It really gets no one anywhere and so many complaints just gets people frustrated or overwhelmed. Thanks for all the information and it's really appreciated. I wonder if people standing on the very back of the cleanse shield while burning him would make Atheon shoot a bit higher and the shield carrier crouch down to avoid the extra damage if it does hit horizontally. Time to give this a shot! I'm just curious. Is this a developer or is this someone from reddit or someone like that?

I recommend always crouching in any instance of blast radius. Often, you will notice that even behind cover you get it. The famous Nexus "Cheese Spot" is a great example. When the player entity is in a crouched state, the hit box is dramatically different and more importantly, smaller. So crouching often will lead to higher survivability in instances with explosions. Obviously, make sure you are behind cover before crouching. The movement speed reduction may end up killing you. For Atheon, I recommend that the relic holder does stay up front or at least in line with the rest. That should help, along with crouching. Another note, an extra defender titan to deploy their shield before Time's vengeance expires will help you survive those nasty explosives while shattering for the next cycle. Good luck, Gaurdian!

Thank you very much for the tips. Just in case you are a developer for Bungie. I might as well throw this out there. Since saving weapons for nightfall you need to save pretty much all the weapon types. Would it be possible for the team to have a lock feature so you can't dissasemble items by accident? Like pressing down on the dpad locks the item when your in your character inventory. Just a thought after I've heard some people accidently dissasemlying items they needed.

I appreciate the ideas. I have seen a fairly popular post of someone who had on accident, sharded the Supremacy from the Queen's Wrath event. I wish I could say more.
