Alright, so there has been no end to people complaining about the game being carved up, stuff being removed for DLC, etc. Most of it I agree with, but I'm still enjoying Destiny.
Now, I've known there's Playstation exclusive stuff. I get it, you don't like Microsoft and Sony/Activision threw a bunch of money at you. (So you immediately go and sign up with Activision after getting out of your MS contract? But that's another rant.)
But an entire Strike?
Let me get this straight. You're punishing your paying customers by withholding content in a game where lack of content is one of the largest complaints, simply because they're playing your game on a system made by a company you're a bit butt-flustered with and are open to taking a bit of cash to mess with?
You're mad at someone, so you take it out on those loyal to you?
That's pretty messed up.
When you're creating a game, you need to be asking yourself "does this thing I am investing effort in benefit the players." And if the answer is "no" - as is the case here - then there is no reason you should be doing it.
None.
Edit: For those asking, the strike is Dust Palace on Mars.
Edit 2: Since apparently some people still think the console wars are a thing, I'll add that this post is not about Xbox being better or deserving anything; it is not about us vs you or we get this exclusive and you get this exclusive. I would be making this post no matter which console I personally play on. We are all gamers. I do not segregate based on platform, gender, race or creed and neither should you.
This post is about excellent developers wanting to create excellent products for their excellent customers. It is about the growing acceptance of developers intentionally going the extra mile to do things that very specifically are not in their customers' best interests.
Edit 3: Alright, this post has kinda blow up and there are a couple common themes I'll address here rather than constant replies:
1) "But Bungie already sold out with Halo being XBox exclusive, this is just more of the same!"
No, it's actually not. Now, I'm going to have to swallow my pride here, because as a long time PiD-Marathon-Myth Bungie Mac fanboy, I was pissed at the time. But at the end of the day, it was done with us, the customers, in mind.
With the funding they received from Microsoft, they were able to turn their small but impressive MacWorld demo into a full fledged, gorgeous game. And (while it pains me to say it) with the newly emerging Xbox console, they were able to reach a fan base far greater than they ever would have on the Mac.
Compare that to the "exclusive" content here. We have stuff developed and then roped off for half of the player base, for no reason from the customer's standpoint. We have zero benefit here. Bungie is now a well established company. They are backed with hundreds of millions. The additional cash provided by small exclusivity bonuses no doubt had little bearing on the final product that is Destiny. This is the difference. This is the problem.
2) "PS4 deserves it, go suck a nut you Xbaby"
I already covered this, but apparently people don't read? Maybe if I type it twice.
We're all in this together, guys. We don't need to segregate ourselves into petty communities based on the logo on the front of our plastic box. We're all gamers, and we all want the best experience possible. So drop the juvenile tough guy act. Sonic and Mario put aside their differences ages ago, you can too.
Edit 4: TL;DR
"Console exclusive stuff is just how it works, what can we do about it?"
We can let the people making the games know that we don't appreciate being carved into groups and set against each other like a corporate dog fight. We can voice our opinions on forums meant for feedback, like these ones right here.
Edit 5: BEHOLD, the Ball-Pit Echo-Chamber. Should you find your comments enclosed within its walls, then I fear you have missed the point of this thread entierly.

Grasp at the netting and fight for air; there are those of us who would assist you in escaping its confines, should you so allow us.
If you need proof of the divided community that these sort of things create, you need look no further than the replies to this post.

2 RespuestasWell, if you're mad about a strike...... http://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/destiny-ps4/exclusive-content/

Xbox got halo.

2 RespuestasEditado por jasperbarg: 10/9/2014 10:29:08 AMXbox players were the first ones to beat the raid so it's pretty lame ps4 gets an exclusive raid, i don't care about the extra weapons and stuff cool for you guys but it kinda sucks missing an ENTIRE RAID edit I'm dumb as -blam!-, it's a strike not a raid.

1 RespuestaI had enough of that console war shit in my teens. We are gamers, forget for a second what consoles we play on because at this point they're the same things with different controllers and cases. Why can't we celebrate the fact that we play the same games? Done with that? Great. Now reflect on what you think about exclusive content for games available to the entire public. Seems a tad unfair to me. OP you've raised some very valid points in a mature way, I'm just sorry that nobody seems to want to get past an ego based around a gaming console for long enough to listen.

As a PS4 player, I back this up. It should be equal for everyone.

4 RespuestasPC Master Race.

1 RespuestaI am surprised that they havent offered it to Xbox as a early $15 DLC.
-
5 RespuestasHold on, XBOX gets an entire extra Halo franchise?!?! Trust me, the strike isn't that exciting.
-
Haha xbone players be mad lol
that is kinda -blam!-ed up tho
-
5 RespuestasTotal -blam!-ing bullshit!! I didn't even know that we had less content on the xbox until now. Thanks for the info, i certainly won't be playing for another goddamn day if they're -blam!-ing playing favorites with -blam!-ing content itself! Hey! Guess what! This is also more proof they cut content from the game...
-
Is it exclusive to ps4 forever? or do they just get it first? Either way it's sad that profit is what stop gamers from getting certain content. I hope Bungie realizes this and even if they can't do anything about it I hope they take this to heart for their next games.
-
The flayers are assholes. Makes the strike Playlist annoying when you fight three bosses that deal massive damage, are level 24, and have the health of a most colossus (did I spell that right?).
-
Well, shit. To tell you my opinion, I'd rather it go away to Xbox. I -blam!-ing hate that strike. As for it not being on both, -blam!- Bungie for taking Sony's monies. Why can't we have one single version of the game?
-
GET OVER IT. REALLY?
-
Should have bought a playstation, OP. Or both. I owned both the Xbox 360 and PS3 last generation. I always played COD on the PS3 and it's not like I was complaining about the month gap between DLC.
-
Don't forget that the dlc that we can preorder now won't be available until a year after PlayStation gets it.
-
You do understand that "exclusive content" wasn't just some fluff rare ships 2 guns and starter gear right ?
-
4 RespuestasYour feedback is pointless man sorry to say. Bungie is contractually obligated to Sony in regards to exclusive content. It's physically impossible for then to say "You know what, he's right, let's give it to them too.". Their would be a massive lawsuit that would wind up preventing Destiny from producing further content. You're just going to have to wait till next year. If every Xbox player in the world stopped playing the game today until they got the Content, y'all still wouldn't get it. Sorry bud.
-
Playstation gets more content because destiny on xbone will be a ghost town next month
-
The Dust Palace is so boring. It's just 3 bullet sponge Psions. Consider yourself lucky you don't have to play it.
-
6 RespuestasNot that great. Don't be jealous. It will be made available to everyone in December.
-
Btw the hawkmoon best Gun in game by far, you guys will see next year
-
I agree completely. Honestly I perceived Destiny as a game that bridged the two consoles by offering equally to both platforms. I have heard my share of console war crap and am quite fed up with it. I don't see why Bungie had to try and appease Sony just because they gave them funding through in game content. I am also extremely irritated by the DLC costing an extra $30 total.

Going to say this to you now, the developers have to do what the people who give them their work ask them to do [tell them to do]. Because they refuse they lose their job, only people who can do anything are those on the development staff who have the best skill at developing, they are the only ones who can probably force Activision to allow what others want to have in the game. Thing is though those better developers are probably bought out already and being given major money so they don't say a thing and keep at their work. You wish to force a company into doing something you wish them to do, learn how to ruin them. Such as what has happened to Microsoft after they bought out Mojang, makers of Minecraft the most popular game out there. That community works together better than any other [yes better than the red vs blue community, and Halo machinima groups] the moment word got out about Microsoft buying Mojang, people began to take down MS servers and computers, because 1. Sony just got Minecraft on some of their counsels. 2. Modding community doesn't want their shit touched. 3. Youtubers didn't want to lose their rights to make minecraft videos 4. Server owners out there on PC didn't want to be forced to do other crap in order to keep their servers going. 5. Texture Pack creators didn't wanna lose their right to make textures for the game 6. People out there don't want to be forced to pay more than they already do for MC and servers. So you want to do something about Destiny, well than you better form a larger community that has the guts to pull the crap the MC community does. Plain and Simple, it's the only way to force a corperation to it's knees. [such as EA's CEO being forced to step down after a guy with enough hacking ability posted to youtube showing the world what he was able to do with the new Sim City when it first came out, and made himself able to get into other people's city's and edit, and allowed himself to build outside city limits with freeways.]
