At the present time I'm sitting at Vanguard Level 4 thinking how awesome it would be if there was actually anything vanguard related past 3 to look forward to. There isn't, however. Once you get past Vanguard Rank 3 you might as well toss on your next favorite faction's cloak and be on your merry way. Now, I know my words will fall on deaf ears because of either the enormity of the forums and all of their content, or Activision...yeah.
Despite the pointlessness in my pleas. I shall make a suggestion/feedback commentary anyway. The point of the Vanguard is to guard the city from the forces of evil, right? The City that is constantly under siege? So, why is it that us guardians who take the time to work up our Vanguard ranks aren't able to assist in the efforts? Another question I'd like to pose is why we never see the city; how are we expected to care about something that we have no knowledge of? I, personally, believe that we should be able to patrol the city's walls, or conduct inner-city or garrison missions for the Vanguard. Why not allow us to see that which we are protecting? It may go a long way to encourage players to believe in the world, even see a point in working Vanguard reputation.
The Garrison idea is a station along the wall or below the wall of the City where several mission types can live. One mission type, for instance, would be to secure the wall in an area so that those little cargo ships that always stop at the tower can resupply the area. Another idea for Garrison-type missions is repairing damaged places in the wall due to enemy attacks. For these, guardians would have to descend to the bottom outside of the wall and secure the area while their ghosts and/or technicians work on its repair. A third thing that garrison could have is a patrol. Patrols will usually be non-combative, but allow players to accept the above missions ala regular patrols. While on Garrison Patrol, a public event can occur which is a Fallen assault on the city that the players must help repel.
The inner-City missions would deal more with Fallen break-ins and other things that may be needed to ensure the City's safety. One such mission would include repairing inner-city defensive positions. I haven't read anything on the City having an iron dome, but I am assuming it has something similar because of the fact that Fallen could probably just shoot into the city and win, or send dropships into the city. Players could have the option of maintaining or even using some of these installations in a mission or event. Inner-city patrol should be non-combative patrol. It should really just be more of an experience with some missions to places outside of the city.
But what do you guys think? I often find myself thinking that the game is lacking almost all of the dimensionality it needs, and this is one of the ways that it could help. I'm also thinking about Dead Orbit and how players could see visible results of their efforts in the faction. Like, maybe, DO sends out a scouting fleet? But anyway, that is all I have for now.

4 RespuestasI like your ideas. The one thing I don't understand is now that I've gotten my Vanguard rank up, why should I care about Crucible/Dead Orbit/FWC/New Monarchy. I did notice that New Monarchy rep is human, Dead Orbit is Awoken, and FWC is Exo. Would be neat if they tied some story, missions, and faction into the races.
