You do realize that when they were showing most of the content that was cut/altered pre-launch they slapped a Content Subject To Change on everything right?

Come on -- are you some kid of shill? This is one year out and they are bragging bout heir depth of game.
-
Glad not the only one who paid attention. Did overhype? Yeah. But do I love the shit out if it? Yeah. Still not bored but that's just me.
-
Explain why this absolves them of any blame in the thin story they left to hit market?
-
Because they told you straight up, that the stuff you were seeing was possibly going to get cut or altered. Also the story has only just started and you're already bashing it. Maybe that's because you can't be bothered to THINK about what event of the story means. Maybe it was short but it does leave room to be expanded on in expansions and sequels

Ever hear of the Sega v. Gearbox case? If not, google it. That's why companies slap the "content subject to change" on everything now. If the buyer doesn't like the way the game came out, that's on the buyer, not the dev. It's all a legal matter and point of perspective.
