Hunters are probably the most capable in pvp when built right.
You can dominate ranged combat or melee combat.
Your melee is the most ranged unless on cooldown. Hell the gunslinger can headshot with it...and instantly get a new one.
Now, if the topic is about pve, then yeah, the Hunter is terrible in pve. Cant generate light and lacks vital utility outside of stealth.

I can hold my own very well as either BD or Slinger. Again its down to build and even then. It's how the person swings it all that matters most.
