Edit 4:
Again, this thread has nothing to do with farming. It has to do with the terrible loot system in place of killing low level enemies and the morality of how you feel when you receive something good from standing around doing nothing.

The problem is that the reward system isn't rewarding. You can do 19 strikes in about 3 hours on level 24, maybe longer. You will more than likely get shit experience, blues that are inferior to your level, and the same chance of receiving rares or legendary engrams than the lower level strike before it.
This is exactly like Diablo 3. How? The more enemies you kill, the faster you sift through RNG to get better chances at gear. And even then, you are -blam!-ed out of it. And even then d3 does it better.
People want to argue that Nightfall is the solution. No, not at all. Vanguard rep grinding is a longer term solution. Same with crucible.
Dungeons should reward you according to the time, effort, and necessity involved with getting to the next level of play. I should not have had to spam moon missions to get my legendaries, or abuse blue engrams farming to get strange coins.
Implement a rewarding system that gets you the gear necessary for raids and missions. Make the missions difficult to reward tiered loot, end game gear that don't drop anywhere else. Provide higher experience rates from strikes and PvP. Reward positive win streaks and kills with higher chance for rewards to induce smarter plays.
Until this happens, I'm going back to the moon.

20+ years of MMO experience and you can't see that farming level 3 mobs for level 20 gear is a broken system? I can't think of a single game where that type of farming is rewarding except for Destiny. Most games encourage you into going to high level areas for better drop rates and to farm those areas for end game gear.
The fact that Destiny is the same drop rate for every level monster is what's breaking the loot system not the fact that people are farming. Not really sure how people don't understand this.
The devs did not intend for people to be earning gear in this fashion end of story. Will you get in trouble? No. Are you cheating? Only yourself.
By gearing like this, you are skipping the actual gear curve and content. All that is gameplay you are missing out on, just to stand in one spot, and squeeze the trigger over and over and over again. Monotonous. Boring.
So have at it, grind the cave. You'll be bored in no time and complaining that there is nothing to do and that you have all the loot already. What's the point of playing?
Edit:
Farming for loot to use as 20+ by killing low level monsters that people who just started the game can kill. You shouldn't even be able to get loot for your level from low level enemies. Sure you can still farm I'm okay with farming, as long as you actually have to kill monsters that are close to your level or higher to get better loot.
Drops should go hand in hand with the level of monster you are killing. As your level goes up, so should the source of better gear.

He didn't say you're cheaters, only that you're cheating yourself out of a good experience.
You're cheating yourself out of the little jolt of happiness that you get after doing missions and strikes and finally seeing that purple little orb drop onto the floor.
You're cheating yourself out of the feeling of knowing that all the items in your inventory was earned and for some items you may even remember the raid or mission or strike that you got it from.
I will agree with him, I honestly couldn't give a shit about farming. You do as you please, but please don't ruin this game when you come back screaming because your experience in this game was meaningless and when you have no real connection with the items you carry.
I'll be crushing the faces of Darkness underneath my boot.
Second edit: since a majority of you coming in here keep spouting the same nonsense, just know, us who don't cave farm know that deep down inside you feel dirty doing this.
Third edit: just because there isn't an economy in this game doesn't mean that there isn't events coming up that the cave farmers will completely destroy everybody. Exploiting this method, even if you don't get exotics off of it is still giving you 800 exp per minute, allowing you to fully upgrade nearly everything in a few hours time. I've said it before, have fun cutting your experience short.

Farming is normal so this is for everyone who complains about it: STOP -blam!-ING COMPLAINING! ITS ONLY LOOT! THATS WHAT PEOPLE DO IN GAMES WITH LOOT! EVERYONE IS GOING TO DO IT NO MATTER WHAT! YOU NEED SOMETHING FOR YOUR LEGENDARY BUT DONT HAVE THE MATERIALS? OH NO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO!!?? FARM TO GET THE LOOT! OR IF YOU PREFER "GRIND"
-
By level 24/25 you have done the game content and the strike wont drop any uogrades just rep grind like hell.. I farm the cave and will continue to when i get bored of pvp or have a truly bad strike .. The game is designed so going back to lower level areas is not a waste .. for people to do this to grind thing is not unheard off peoplebhave used this system is quite commenly used but sadly i regret saying this .. Console gamers have no concept of this as it is mainly used in mmo which consoles have yet to have a good one made ... i know destiny is not an mmo but it does have aspects from one

1 RespuestaSeriously man, it's just like an MMO. You clearly haven't played one because MMO's are all about grinding and farming and the cave is exactly that. Why are you so concerned with other people's decisions anyway? If they want to grind that way for gear then they can go ahead, the game is meant for grinding and bungie did say the game was meant to be played the way the player wants. Its not like their decisions are majorly impacting your life or gaming experience anyway.
-
What gear curve? Gear is completely random after level 20 unless you are grinding your faction or vanguard. There is no "gear curve" LOL

2 RespuestasEditado por Creasey: 9/21/2014 3:17:22 AMIt isn't really pertinent past level 24. Its not like you get legendaries filling up your bags. Yes, they just stand there and pull the trigger. They want to get past a gear gap to get to content without having to rely on strikes (of which you need to rely on other people. In my experience, a lot of people either quit or AFK, basically a wasted amount of time) or Crucible (I shan't need to explain that one). I don't see the issue, at all. Did Bungie intend it to be a farming spot? I highly doubt it. Is there anything wrong with it, despite people 'cheating' themselves? Absolutely not. Its just another means to get gear. All loot is based on RNG. You can end up decked out with legendaries by standing still and pulling a trigger, or by doing strikes and Crucible. RNG is RNG.

Editado por tacoface1996: 9/21/2014 3:17:44 AMWhy do people hate on farming so much, what difference does it make if someone earns or farms their gear, and why does it concern you if someone spends 2-3 hours doing nothing but the same thing, like seriously since when was farming bad. An fyi all my legendaries and exotics where earned by playing crucible/factions and xur.

7 RespuestasIt's their game they can play it however they want. Shut your mouth.
-
Thank you sir for you're general concern for how I play my game :) notice how I put MY game. Have a nice day buddy

2 RespuestasEditado por MysticJon: 9/21/2014 3:15:57 AMThere's already basically nothing to do in Destiny anyway, and I don't farm any caves. At least farming the cave gives them SOMETHING to do and they enjoy doing it so good for them.

Get. The. -blam!-. Over. It.
This has been said to death. I'll farm the -blam!-ing cave if I feel like it. But I like bounties more so...
-
1 RespuestaI paid the iron price.
-
My first visit to the cave was a bit different to the YouTube videos. After the first lot of acolytes all hell broke loose from all sides. Knights (normal + hallowed), wizards, chosen acolytes etc + all the fallen equivalents spawned from all around and it turned into the best all in brawl I've seen in the game. I've got no issue with people farming the cave but would be grey if the all in event spawned every 30-60 minutes.. Was great fun!
-
Keep doing strikes over and over or the crucible over and over with little no good gear half time...leave those people doing that alone and keep going about your day
-
What is the point of this post? Even if they get all the gear they want they still have to go out and get the materials for it. Also that isn't even the best gear in the game.
-
Editado por Semsi: 9/21/2014 2:57:22 AMWhy do you care? People pay money to play the game the way they want to play it. I don't know where the cave is, so I just move around to where the next public event is going to take place instead. Once the story part is done, all that is left to do is bounties, daily and weekly heroic missions and then what? Play the same missions over and over? You may as well farm, because when you break it down, you are doing the same thing as the cave dwellers.
-
6 RespuestasNo way. It's a short game with a long reward system. They expect you to farm. The cave is a little cheap, but I don't see a problem.
-
Meh, I only farm at the cave for half an hour for every time I boot up destiny. Mainly to level up current weaponry and armor. Have I gotten any legendary from this method? Nope. The only one's I've ever received were from the Cryptarch's "Gift" which turned out to be a couple weapons (Can't remember the name but it should be on my profile) And the gear I purchased from the Vanguard. But I don't see any reason why people throw such a fit in the first place. As far as I'm aware of, farming is a key part of the game so deal with it and enjoy your play method. :D
-
2 RespuestasNow what if you are geared by legit means and are farming for cryptarch rank?
-
Let's see....took 3 days to go from 21-24....mostly through purchased vanguard armor...did the 24 strike playlists...just getting anything better that I can while waiting for the rest of my raid team to hit 26 so we can go....yeah, not ruining things I've already done.
-
Would wonder how much longer it would take to get stuff without it im still not getting crap.
-
It may be boring but the reward can be pretty sweet. By doing this i got 2 legendary weapons and my criptarc rank went from 5 to 8 in about 3 hours time.
-
If the loot drops weren't horrible people wouldn't be farming. It's that simple.
-
In cheating myself? Then that's my problem. I'm ruining the game for myself? Then that's my problem. Explain to me what the actual -blam!- any of the above has to do with you?
