No rage, no trolling, no spam, no harassment. Granted, I'm sure all those things will happen, but do your best to keep them to a minimum.
There seems to be a lot of miscommunication about what feminism actually is. Suffice it to say, it's about equal rights and opportunity. With that said, do you have any questions about it? Is there a reason you aren't a feminist? You don't have to go to rallies or actively tell people you're a feminist to be a feminist. You can just be one. Taking a stand at certain times for the rights of others is a good thing to do, but no one is going to make you do that.
So, let's begin. And once again, please keep things civil in here. I really don't want to deal with a bunch of fools who just want to cause strife. Also, if you have differing opinions with me or someone else in this thread, keep that in this thread.

Call yourself an equalist? Good. Call yourself a feminist? Good. Call yourself a humanitarian? Good. Call yourself a secular humanist like Keyu? Good It's doesn't matter what you call yourself. In the end, it's all pretty much the same and all striving for a better society in a peaceful manner. Each has its extremists, feminism just has more (unfortunately).

I usually don't jump in on this shit but in this case I will. So women WANT to work their asses off?????? They WANT all the stress that comes with having a job? They WANT to step out from under the protective "wing" of men and set out on their own hard path??? Well then let them!!! Us guys will sit at home then, sipping tea, watching tv and grocery shopping. You know. The more easygoing responsibilities. So go on ladies!!! Work your butts off! Us guys need a break after however many thousands of years of dominance. Ok...I feel better now...

There are bigger and more serious issues than women's rights. Women are always going to complain anyways. Get used to it

Editado por LightTehRing94: 9/10/2014 12:22:17 PMThe feminism movement needs to stop being a joke before we take it seriously buddy. Feminism is about women getting their cake and eating it too. They want to be equal to men, but also keep their "special rights" that their vagina grants them (such as not paying for dinner, practically always getting the right to keep the kids after a divorce, being able to physically assault a man and avoid arrest cause they're a "harmless female", etc.)
-
Editado por Pheonix: 9/10/2014 12:20:52 PMWhy don't more western feminists go to places like China or Saudi Arabia? Those are places where women truly have no rights. Those are places that actually need a feminist movement.
-
Feminism by definition is good. Feminazis are terrible people.
-
Editado por Failure4Life: 9/10/2014 12:13:37 PMI'm fine with feminism because I believe in equal opportunity. I don't however, agree with the vocal minority crying inequality because of unequal outcome.

>serious discussion >feminism Pick one.

Editado por Failure4Life: 9/10/2014 12:04:41 PMI will die with a smile on my face if a woman ever pays for my dinner. It would be awesome.
Sadly by Floodian standards that is beta as hell.
I know a lot of great feminists, I feel really bad for them because it gets a bad wrap from other "feminists" I just say I'm a humanist because it's an umbrella term for everything really

4 RespuestasMaybe guys wouldn't be such pigs if young girls today didn't act like and dress like trash ._.

My question is where exactly do women not have equal rights? Show me tangible laws and stuff like that where women have unequal rights add opposed to men
-
1 RespuestaSo, now, here's the thing. I'm all for equal rights for everybody. I mean EVERYBODY. But, see, I'm NOT for people using things like feminism to do any of the following: a) make excuses for why they suck. b) make an "easy road" to things others worked hard for. c) use the negative connotations of a movement to blackmail, threaten, or otherwise harass other individuals. EXAMPLE TIME! A woman applies for a job she is obviously under-qualified for (i.e. she's got no degree, and no experience). A man, who has all the qualifications and experience PLUS some applies for the same job. Man gets the job. Woman throws a hissy stating she didn't get the job because she's a woman, approaches the company's recruiter and threatens that, if she doesn't get the job, she will sue the company for sexism and unfair hiring practices. This woman should get punched in the twat. EXAMPLE TIME xDOS! A woman and man of equal qualification and experience apply for the same job. Man gets hired. Woman inquires as to why (professionally, and looking only to better herself). Discovers it was simply because she was a woman. Advises the company's recruiter of their improper practices, does research, and notifies company executives of the practice. Applies for a different job because she doesn't want to work for a company like that anyway. Gets the new job, because she's a grown-ass woman and she does what she wants. Works her way up in a fair workplace, and eventually becomes the head of recruiting. The old recruiter of the other company applies because he got laid off for bad practice. Woman hires him anyway, without garnering revenge, because she believes in giving second chances and thinks she can help educate him on what an equal-opportunity workplace should be. This woman get's a high-five.

1 RespuestaTouchy subject. I personally think that these terms do more harm than good in the battle for equality. Establishing categories creates a separation among groups and often leads to the mentality of "this one is more important than that one because it personally effects me". More so, it allows a sense of apathy or even hatred towards a particular group based on the actions of radicals who wave that particular flag. By establishing these labels, we are aiding the segregation of all mankind, and allowing opportunities for stagnation based on personal bias. Instead, everyone must view equality as and all-encompassing human necessity and work together to see everyone on level ground. Not just this group or that group.
-
2 RespuestasI don't understand why there has to be any animosity between the sexes. We're all human here-- and stuck on the same planet with each other, so y'all better learn to love.
-
Feminism has become corrupt to the core, the people who realize that don't identify with that label. the equivalent is if for example someone identified as a communist and they must be a good person because communism wants everyone to be equal right?

These instances that happened to miss D.C. Are unfortunate. However the lines between street harassment and giving a compliment are just to damn blurred. To feminists say I like the way a woman dresses I'd say nice dress and I could get a range if responses to F off or thanks. The same could be said if I said you look sexy or hot. This video focuses mainly on the feministic view of this issue. I think a general survey would better show this hopefully because the survey will spread out demographically not towards one cities population but also eliminating outliers. A girl in Alaska is much less likely to be walking on a street in clothes that would show off. I agree that street harassment is an issue we should learn to treat everyone with respect however in reference to it being a "gateway drug" correlation is not causation that's a psychological rule número uno. The problem with this video is it is aggressively narrow minded, conclusions are not supported (besides the girl walking around but that's an obvi). The amount of confounding variables are off the flippin charts though

15 RespuestasSigh I hate feminism with all my heart Instead of creating equality, they're enforcing stereotypes that all men are rapists and all women are in constant threat of being -blam!- They're so contradictory in their demands They have the mindset that men are so much lower than them even though they claim to want equality Even their argument is flawed We don't need equality, we need equal opportunity Men and women are inertly better at different things We shouldn't try to blur that line Take this example A construction job is open An average man is stronger than an average woman and is more suited to take the job Therefore he gets the job But if a woman wants to get that job and is better suited to take the job then she should See? Equal opportunity But most men are better suited to work in construction than women and therefore there are more men in the industry This isn't oppression It's just who's better for the job They take the smallest things and blow them up to be this big deal And you literally can't argue with them Criticize one part of their movement and boom you're a dirty man contributing to -blam!- culture They want things but don't work for them They expect to be let into things without having the necessary components for them You want it? Work for it Once you beat out the competition and still aren't let in, then you can complain We need gender roles in society There can never be true equality which is why we need equal opportunity This maintains the gender roles (which society needs to run at full power) wile allowing both sexes to move in the direction they may want to I realize most feminists today are not radicals and it's a shame that the idiot ones are speaking for them I definitely agree we need more rights for women and I guess I'm a feminist but nowhere near the degree of the radicals

1 RespuestaI'm personally a humanitarian. I believe in equality for gender, race, sexual orientation, anything and everyone. So of course I support feminism. But my question is when does feminism turn into feminazism?
