...you live on the east coast then you have to pointlessly wait an extra 3 hours to play your digital copy which has already been downloaded. This is sad and is apparently on Sony's end, but I thought I would bring it up here again in the hopes that Bungie could put some pressure on Sony. Isn't it in the developers best interest to promote digital sales? Supposedly Xbox players can preload and play at 12 est. Help us out Bungie! Don't let the launch be tainted for a large portion of Guardians.
Article on why to buy digital and why I am disappointed in the continued lack of incentive to do so:

Edit Ok conflicting reports on whether Xbox gets it at 12 est. Not the main point. What's important is that right now the balance is in favor of getting a hard copy. This is not cool. We need the balance to be flipped in favor of Digital! Do you like endless iterations of the same games and developers closing shop left and right. If you do then ignore this thread and sheep your way down to gamestop. If you want cheaper games and developers that are free to take risks and create new IP's like Destiny then leave a comment. Be Heard Guardians!
Edit I can see why people get hung up on the 3 hrs but I could honestly care less about waiting 3 hrs. Its a minor inconvenience. The problem is some technicality that is making players wait an unnecessary 3 hrs when 3 other games that just came out allowed us to play at midnight. Another example of a digital copy being an inconvenience when it should be just the opposite.

1 RespuestaDigital has no resale value, you have to wait 3 hours to play a digital release when you've already given the DEV your money? What sense does buying digital make? If Dev's want to stay in business than start to reward your digital buyers. They are taking all the risk because if the game is bad they are stuck with it, at least give them the same access as a disk purchase or better.

1 Respuestathe servers are probably ganna crash for the first 3 or 4 hours anyway so.... can you see why crying is pointless?
-
1 RespuestaThe only way I'll buy digital is if it ends up being cheaper, and if I can get it early. I work at GameStop, so I automatically get all my games 15% cheaper anyway. There's no price disparity between hard copies and digital, the incentive to switch isn't there for me. I like having a physical product.

2 RespuestasPeople should seriously not cry over this, some people are getting their stuff mailed to them, or picking it up in the morning on the 9th. 3 hours will not change much of anything. Sheesh.
-
1 RespuestaI usually skip the first 24hrs of an on line games release.
-
2 RespuestasI totally agree here. Everyone will be 3 hours ahead of you. You'll never catch up! Unacceptable Sony lol
-
6 RespuestasIf digital buyers on the east coast have to wait a few hours, it's no big deal in the end. Watch a movie, make some food, spend some time with your lover, tuck them in to bed after a good love session, and go play Destiny. Big deal. What is a few hours compared to the infinite amount of time you can have with the game post launch? Sheesh people are acting like they won't allow you to play your game EVER

3 RespuestasEditado por The108: 8/30/2014 11:33:50 AMGame goes for 10 years and you're crying over 3 hours? I vaguely remember a quote I saw at a Nandos that I think applies here... It went something like: "Once you have, and are enjoying, your meal, the wait for it will be long forgotten."

3 Respuestasohhh nooo. How the hell will humanity survive this tragedy? Look !! This guy has to wait 3 hours more until he cna play!! See? Nobody cares. Ask people with jobs who can only play in the evenings maybe 3-4 times a week MAX

2 RespuestasOr if PSN is down. Then it will keep you from your destiny fun.

1 RespuestaBUNGIE servers will be u up at 12am global time. Microsoft and sony won't verify your purchase till they choose to. That's the problem
-
1 RespuestaStill no concrete information of when the servers will actually be online.
-
2 RespuestasThe game will be playable when the servers go up. I highly doubt Bungie will put the Xbox servers up before they put up the Sony servers. it will most likely be at the same time.
-
there are no statements put out there that bungie is going to timelock the game on psn store and psn only timelocks upon request of the maker

8 RespuestasWhat a soiled experience, IMO. Why would you even start playing the game at midnight? After school or work, I'd be exhausted. I'd rather wake up at 9, eat some breakfast, and then start playing. I couldn't give 2 shits about a 3-hour time difference. All it means is that we'll have to wait 3 hours shorter for the bounties and weapons to change.

If you can't think then don't reply thanks.

4 RespuestasWhys everybody acting like people in pst are playing before everyone else the servers turn on 12 pst everywhere, its not like western servers come on then 3 hours later another and so on and so on. If anything you guys are lucky because while everybody in the west well be downloading it at 12 and you guys would already have it ready to play assoon as the servers come on

If youre on xbox all you need to do is change the system region to UK, then you can play 8 hours before the usa release on your same GT. If youre on ps there probably is a similar option but you may need a new GT
