Can somebody reply to this and explain to me what is so great about Destiny? Seriously - I'm not trolling. I was more excited for Destiny than anyone, but after the BETA, I went away thinking that it was a bit bland. The gameplay was close enough to the standards of Halo that I didn't want to quit straight away, but I felt as if though everything else was a bit lacking. Judging by the original concept of the game, I thought that it was going to be a huge fantasy RPG-FPS, but it was just kind of a, "Run here; go there", sort of game. I found Patrol kind of boring after about ten minutes, the missions were alright--nothing revolutionary--for the first run, and very bland on the second, and then the PvP was just terrible.
I remember seeing the concept of that snow cat, huge structures, space flight and so much more, but as far as I can tell, the game en tales clearing one area to get loot to take into the laggy and unbalanced multiplayer... I mean, what the -blam!-? Did I just expect too much or what?
I pictured walking down from the Tower, through the streets and out the massive front gate, into a huge open world, free for me to explore on my Sparrow. This is not what Destiny is. Destiny felt to me like a beefed-up version of Borderlands, only without the diverse range of weapons -- a pseudo-MMO.
I'm sad to say that I am finally disappointed in a Bungie title... but what does it matter, anyway? The way Bungie is going, there's nothing left of the original studio to be disappointed at.
I genuinely hope that you all enjoy running through the same four areas over and over again, while doing the same twenty or so missions over and over again, while playing the same laggy, unbalanced multiplayer over and over again come the ninth.
"Enjoy" star side, new 7C.

Editado por Capt Explodabob: 8/29/2014 9:06:00 AMI'm still getting the game; I changed my mind. This is an older post. That being said, all of what I originally posted is factual, and a lot of my issues have been legitimized by Bungie. I'll be playing on the ninth, but I'm still going to be vocal about some of the poor decisions that Bungie made with Destiny. It still amazes me, though, that every time I posts something about Destiny, something that isn't simulating metaphorical smoke blowing up the asshole of Bungie, I get moronic replies like yours. You literally have no way of counteracting what I wrote because you know that it's all factual, so instead of coming up with any thing valid to say, you fling childish insults just before reburying your head into the sand.

I honestly cannot say I am glad that you are buying this perfectly good game. I'm starting to get a little tired of you types of people. When they see a new game come out (Advanced Warfare, for example) they jut love to point out its faults and how the developers did not live up to their expectations. Does Advanced Warfare look like Black Ops 2 with jet packs and better graphics. Yes. But with a lot more stuff aside. It looks to me more like Black Ops 3, which is the reason that I am going to buy it. You see, I, like many others who love competitive gaming and MLG, loved Black Ops 2. So it's only natural that I would buy a better (If it's possible) version of it. The only complaint I have about BO2 is the zombies, just because it's so different from everything else, but I still really enjoyed the zombies and how they expanded from what they had. Now back to Destiny. Do you really think Bungie cares about you opinion and how much you like the game? I do. I think they care very much, or they wouldn't be very good game developers. But they crafted this game into something they wanted. They've been working on it for a very long time without anyone knowing about it, so a lot of what THEY want is what it is. I respect that. If I designed a game, I would make it to fit my wants, then if anyone had any complaints that were legitimate and didn't take away from the original thought, I would most certainly oblige. You see, just because you want all of this doesn't mean it'll happen and just because it isn't going to happen doesn't mean you have to pitch a for over it. Do you see how childish you are? It's a game. It isn't anything other than a game. A good game. A very good game and a lot of heavily talented people's life over the years. So, please, before you start judging a game, remember you aren't judging the game, you are judging the creators who put a lot of time and effort into the game to make it what it is. I doubt they enjoy seeing people like you go around saying how disappointed you are. Please show some respect and if you don't like it don't get it, but if you do like it then, please, but the game! It'll be great!

Editado por Capt Explodabob: 9/2/2014 4:54:37 AMGod damn! Why are you guys still replying to this? I'm over it. I'm buying the game. If I'm already over my own post, then there's no point in trying to argue with me. By the way, why did you go on a tirade about CoD? This forum literally has nothing to do with it. Every time you bring up CoD somebody is going to bash it. People don't like CoD, continuing to bring it up in every conversation will only fuel that hatred.
-
Why are you still buying the game if you don't like it?
-
The main reason is that everyone is going to be playing it, and I don't really feel like playing BF4 and Diablo by myself while the rest of my friends are on Destiny. The game was not terrible, it just wasn't what Bungie hyped it up to be. This is how I'm going to justify buying it.

Editado por Absolution: 8/29/2014 9:36:30 AMyou don't have to post something brown-nosing... I respond to things like that in a similar fashion.. what you did was bait... you can't possibly think you're that intelligent and NOT understand why people enjoy the game, even on a most basic of levels... you pretended you didn't... whether or not the beta impressed you, you still decided that... you wanted attention.. and seeing as how you accumulated over 250 replies (alot of them yours) I guess you did pretty well for yourself... I made a quick reply because it's better to leave a troll short and sweet then go toe-to-toe with a pompous scrub... Seeing as how you are unaware of what is "factual", I'll relay it to you gengus... The Vast majority of people entering the beta enjoyed these aspects of the game that you sir, master scrub nugget, complained about... whether or not they were truly how you say, that dictates that they met or exceeded the standards placed by bungie/player's own hype... but that's all irrelevant as it is opinion-based.. however, graphic quality, frame-rate, voice-work, processing, server stability, and so on, all met or exceeded normal standard specs/expectations of a "developed" game... this is based on fact, not opinion like you feel fact is based off of... and not only that, but you based an opinion (what you call factual silly child), on an unfinished product... it was a beta.. not a demonstration, or a showcase... it wasn't meant to impress you, although to most people, it did... but honestly, is that the issue..? no... it's your own vision... you were biased from the start... you wanted to say it's bland... it was your goal from the beginning, because you feel hurt over bungie's decisions behind the scenes... It's very obvious... very mature... so next time you want to measure your height to someone else, make sure they're not sitting first... Hill contested...

Editado por Capt Explodabob: 8/29/2014 6:02:35 PMOh very clever. You depleted your tank on that one, didn't you? I can see that you think that your post is rock-solid, but behind every act of hubris is a fool. Your argument literally starts with an assumption. Your post is so against what you claim are opinions, but the irony is that your entire argument is based around them. "Graphic quality, frame-rate, voice-work, processing, server stability, and so on, all met or exceeded normal standard specs/expectations"... Oh, did they now? So would you like to provide a link to the source of these "facts"? As far as I can tell, graphics quality, sound, frame rate, ect. are all subjective topics. In other words, you downplayed my argument because you thought it to be based on opinions, then literally formed your own based on nothing but opinions. The fact is that Destiny was indeed promoted to be something that it's not. Bungie has done nothing but use trickery and clever PR wordplay to fool the 7C into buying this lie of a game. You don't believe me? Look at any Mail Sack, and every time somebody asks a question that may be damaging to sales, Deej plays it off with his silver tongued bullshit. What I'm about to post is proof--one piece of proof--of what I have just written: nickelinch: "Will we be able to travel directly from one location to another without going to orbit?" Deej: "Bill Nye the Science Guy would tell you no. Neil deGrasse Tyson would probably back him up. Stephen Hawking might start talking about point-to-point wormholes, but Leonard Nimoy is alive to remind him that such things are not logical. Orbit is an inescapable wonder of space travel. Enjoy the view." Since you have a fetish for facts, here are some facts: Destiny will not have dedicated servers Destiny will lag more often without dedicated servers than if it were to have dedicated servers Destiny is lacking many of the features shown in the original concept Destiny will have no more than thirty missions Destiny will only have one raid Destiny will not have matchmaking for raids Destiny limits three friends to a party Destiny will only have one explorable area per planet Destiny will have a small, finite number of planets Destiny will not be fully explorable like Bungie blatantly lied about at E3 2013 I am disappointed in Destiny Try to dispel literally any of those FACTS. To sum it all up, no. Just no. Your hypocritical ramblings are just pure hyperboloid... or a sheer farce. I don't know. Your entire argument is based around your assumption of me providing a negative response to Destiny because I'm a troll. Really? Are you really that moronic that you can't see that I legitimately have concerns with Destiny? Your entire argument is based on an assumption and thus nullifies the entirety of what you had to say. At best - you have an opinion; I had an opinion. I had an opinion based on facts, then presented said facts to back up my opinion. I took facts and worded them to fit within this forum and to display my dissatisfaction. Next time you want to make a clever metaphor, remember the "clever" part first. Hill controlled.

Editado por Absolution: 8/29/2014 7:24:18 PMlet's dissect your little paragraph playground here so that we can point out your flaws kiddo...
Oh very clever. You depleted your tank on that one, didn't you?
Clever..? I wasn't aware using fact was something clever, seems pretty straight-forward to me... and you assume I'm just hot air I suppose... another one of your pre-determined opinions... As soon as you saw I was opposed to your imagined issues, you wanted me to wrong, so you used wordplay to do so.. huh... wordplay.. that thing you accuse Bungie of doing... interesting...
You're post is so against what you claim are opinions, but the irony is that your entire argument is based around them.
I'm against the opinions..? well that's kind of true, but what I'm truly against is you using your opinion as fact... because opinions aren't fact... Is my argument really based on opinion..? well it's common knowledge that the standard accepted frame rate (fps) is 30fps... even so, 60fps is becoming more common and could quite easily replace 30 within the next year... so that standard has met expectations... Did the voice match up to the right cues, and was the sound quality clear..? by standards, yes it was... the rest follow as well.. they met standard expectations, and in some cases, exceeded... that's fact.. it's posted on the forums here quite often... go read up a bit...
As far as I can tell, graphics quality, sound, frame rate, ect. are all subjective topics.
Subjective... outside of standards, yes this is subjective... I'm going to have you help me prove a point with the word subjective in just a few moments...
Look at any Mail Sack, and every time somebody asks a question that may be damaging to sales, Deej plays it off with his silver tongued bullshit. What I'm about to post is proof--one piece of proof--of what I have just written
He answered the question... He didn't use some cheap tactic to make people think it's cool that you can't skip orbit, he made a spin on it to keep it entertaining... commonly referred to as wit...and if not being able to skip orbit is going to hurt sales, then why is it even in the mail sack...it would be more proficient to leave it out instead of dance around it.. you don't draw attention to something you don't want people to see.. like your ignorance... after all, you are still getting the game amidst all of your whining right..? Great way to stick it to the man lol...
Since you have a fetish for facts, here are some facts: Destiny will not have dedicated servers Destiny will lag more often without dedicated servers than if it were to have dedicated servers Destiny is lacking many of the features shown in the original concept Destiny will have no more than thirty missions Destiny will only have one raid Destiny will not have matchmaking for raids Destiny limits three friends to a party Destiny will only have one explorable area per planet Destiny will have a small, finite number of planets Destiny will not be fully explorable like Bungie blatantly lied about at E3 2013 I am disappointed in Destiny Try to dispel literally any of those FACTS.
Ah ha! here's where subjective comes into play, because you're opinion on these issues is all subjective... half of those "facts" are in them of themselves, stated from your subjective view... let's begin! -Did Bungie promise dedicated servers, and if so, when did they say they wouldn't..? -The lag factor is PRESUMABLY extensive without dedicated servers, but that is an assumption, not fact... -Lacking..? they showed off a lot of cool stuff, and to this day, we're still not sure if they're in the game or not... this is at best your opinion... at worst an imagined bait for attention.. XD -30 missions is quite a bit.. more-so than most games and not including DLC... hell, DMC games tend to be 15 to 20 missions, and that's all the game is... an opinion on what a mission entails is subjective, because the definition of mission is vague... -Darn, a game that is pioneering raids in a non MMO format only has 1 Raid... to start with... ignoring DLC Raids wouldn't really be fair either as it's still Destiny.. it's not something else lol.. -GOOD! no one with a brain or experience with Raids wants matchmaking.. no one wants to waste an hour progressing through a game-hell to get knocked out due to bad teamwork... so thanks for pushing that plus on us... I don't remember them promising matchmaking on raids anyways lol... -if all your doing is exploring and playing campaign, then yes... Raids and PvP are 6 players... so this point is moot... -the whole area that has been created is explorable... they never promised you fallout.. then again, the are covered by games like fallout are smaller, so I guess all of your complaints so far are "technicalities"... -Bungie never promised every known celestial body in existance.. nor did they ever state that any specific number of planets/areas were included/excluded.. secondly this sentence is subjective... what you feel is a small number could be what somene else feels is a large number... -Actually, every area you play in the campaign is explorable in the option to explore it... that's not really a lit.. you must have not done much exploring.. a poor way to base an opinion on it...once again.. Opinion.. XD If you want to sound intelligent, you should actually be intelligent first.. knowing about what you're speaking is integral to stating fact... this is fun! launch some more GoM brand bullshit for me to shoot down! Laggia, set five, go...

Editado por Capt Explodabob: 8/29/2014 9:03:32 PMDid you just use the word "kiddo"? Really? Wow... Amidst all of your vain attempts to simulate maturity you still couldn't help yourself but fling one more immature insult in there, huh? Let's get started then. Paragraph on is pointless (technically the second but it's irrelevant). Paragraph two is invalid due to the fact that everything you listed is in fact objective, whether you like it or not. Destiny runs at an unstable 30fps, and, like most other games, in 1080p. Now, saying that 30fps is considered as being the standard--which it's not--and 1080p being the standard is different from saying that Destiny "met or exceeded normal standard specs/expectations" now, isn't it? The rest of your points--graphic quality, voice-work, processing and server stability--you so cleverly tried to pass off, are definitely open to speculation. If I was to say that Destiny had bland voice acting, sub-next-gen graphics and I disconnected multiple times during my play-sessions not of my own accord, then you would have to accept that as a possibility; if I said that all Humans can fly and the sky is really made of chocolate then you wouldn't have to accept that as a possibility. This is because the first comment does, in fact, not conflict with fact, while the second does. See the difference? It is not a fact that the graphics are good or beyond good. It is not a fact that the game runs well. It is not a fact that the audio is good. It is an opinion, however, that the graphics are good, the game runs well and that the audio is good. One hundred opinions verses one fact does not mean that opinions win - facts always win. At no point did I post an opinionated sentence that was passed off as fact. Paste some of my words in which you feel I have passed off as fact, while secretly concealed as "opinions" so that I can shed some light as to why you're wrong. I hope I can clarify it for you. Paragraph three is another humourless insult. With regards to paragraph four, as I said, it was one example of him doing this - there are many others. Would you like me to post some? Since you love expressing how vocal the community is in favour of your agenda, I direct you to some of the posts actually commenting on Bungie's recent insidious nature. Now your last, real, paragraph is the fun part. Not only did you misinterpret everything that I posted regarding my ten points (not counting the last one), you also based an entire, lengthy paragraph upon them and around them. At no point did I prefix any of those facts, but you took it upon yourself to assume that I did anyway. I simply posted eleven FACTS in relation to Destiny that you took upon yourself to see as negatives (minus the one--or two). All ten of those points happened and are happening - plain and simple. There's no way around it. All you've done with this post is waste a fair portion of time. Those facts are the basis of my opinion... or so you like to call it. My opinion is my rewording of those facts. If I come to the conclusion that Destiny is a disappointment based on ten of those eleven facts, then that's my prerogative and I have every right to express it, especially in the very forums of the game itself. You can argue that they're not facts and that they're all subjective, but the fact is that all of them are set in history as things that happened. That is why you commented, after all, correct? You couldn't handle that my opinion conflicted with yours? "If you want to sound intelligent, you should actually be intelligent first... knowing about what you're speaking is integral to stating fact." I saw this quote today, and while poorly composed, I thought that it was applicable to your situation. That having been said, "One man alone can be pretty dumb sometimes, but for real bona fide stupidity, there ain't nothin' can beat teamwork." I fear that in addition to you contributing to what is essentially societal degradation, I have also done so by default. If you want to keep goin', we can keep goin', but I'm not going to enjoy it. Laggia, set five; still loses the duel. I'm going to bed. Wake me when you... want to continue a pointless argument.

Editado por Absolution: 8/29/2014 9:22:15 PMyou poor creature... GG scrub... XD
-
I'm just going to let you have that one.
-
You are judging a beta build of a game you have barely played and you try to pass you opinions off as law. Some people enjoyed a fun, no laggy (your Internet connection must really suck) game. There's no need to blam and complain at everyone who liked the beta and is excited about the game.
-
Editado por Capt Explodabob: 8/29/2014 8:34:11 AMSo I'm not allowed to form a negative opinion based off of the BETA, but you're allowed to form a positive opinion based off of the BETA? Do you see the problem here? Sheer hypocrisy. Your comment on my download speed being too low is also invalid, considering that Destiny uses P2P. For example, even while using fibre, Destiny still lags if other players have poor connections. Instead of Bungie hosting the servers themselves (like almost every other dev/ publisher does nowadays), they use archaic P2P servers which means that players are hosting their own games--even with a $500,000 budget they are using an outdated system. Depending on player location and varying speeds, the game could either work fine or be a huge cluster -blam!-, and in most cases, it's a cluster -blam!-. Why on Earth Bungie decided to use this horrible, outdated basis for their multiplayer is beyond me, especially considering that Microsoft is offering free dedicated servers to any developer who wishes to use them. So, essentially, all Bungie had to do was host/ pay for servers on Sony's platform, but they didn't because they're stuck in their old ways... or probably just wanted to cheap out.
-
Editado por C5T: 8/28/2014 11:06:56 PMWhy is it when I post something about how I hate something it gets ninja removed But anyone else seems ok... Seems legit

Depends on how you word it, I guess. To their credit, Bungie have never censored me. To be fair, though, it wasn't until now that I ever had anything negative to say about them.
-
So many replies, all you should think about Is, is it worth the money to you?
-
I assume that you're referring to Destiny in regards to the money aspect of things? Yeah, sure - it's only the price of every other game. Do I consider it to be worth the price asked based on the game itself? No. But I do consider paying $99.99 for a week of co-op with friends to be more than fulfilling of the base value... even if it is restricted to only two other friends. That's how I'm going to justify buying it.
-
Coop is where the money is at
