Destiny too serious?
When I first got a glimpse of the story from the beta I was less than thrilled. Sure it was trying to be this epic story of cosmic battle for survival, but really its more like "Ahh! Shoot the angry space bugs!" It only works if you don't question anything about it.
I have a solution though. Destiny is already a polished version of a Borderlands but it lacks the one thing that people loved about Borderlands.
Lots of guns? Close, but no.
Humor, you can get away with any bad story if you make enough dick jokes. Nothing as blatant as borderlands, just a couple chuckles.
I already thought Destiny was sort of a comedy when I first heard "wizard from the moon" just do more of that. Maybe replace Dinklage with Chris Tucker. How about putting Bill the Cabal in the actual game? Have the Speaker go around the tower bumping into stuff cause he can't see through that mask.
Bungie isn't going to break ground with Destiny, but they could totally win people over on the bland plot if they just made you laugh a little bit.

1 RespuestaI think it already broke ground. Humor shouldn't be prevalent in every game, and this game doesn't need a dick joke in it to make it a good game. If that's the kinda games that you find entertaining then I think you're immature.

1 RespuestaBungie's in-game humor is more subtle than dick jokes (which aren't funny anyway). Halo had a ton of comedy if you just stopped and listened to the NPCs: Marines and Covenant generate a lot of nice dialogue. Destiny looks to be the same: stop and listen. I found it hilarious when the Cryptarch awkwardly asked if I happened to speak "pre-Golden Age German." Or when I passed by the Postmaster and heard her yelling at a package to stop floating.

I found myself simply enthralled by the atmosphere, the tone in and of itself is immersive. But to each their own.

2 RespuestasIf you want comedy play something else like gta, or stick with borderlands. Let Destiny be it's own game. It's not the only game to be serious, to me a game should go one way or the other, to play middle ground between the two detracts from each of them.

2 RespuestasIt's meant to have a serious tone just as halo did. That's Bungie's style. This is the same reason all those pet threads are dumb; they don't fit the serious/dark tone of the game.

We've seen like what, 4-5 story missions? Let's give it a little time before we judge the story of Destiny.

I actually like the story. There are questions I want answered. What exactly did the traveller do to cause the golden age? What caused us to fall so quickly since we were so strong? What is the darkness ? A metaphor? A physical form that sucks up light and kills what it consumes?..... Honestly the vagueness has my intrigued since it is supposed to be our future we are playing.

You must have missed all the cameo events at the Tower.... There was a soccer ball.... Conga line.....dance party...... Red vs Blue was not there idea. People will make the game funny
