If there is one thing that Dark Souls is known as, it’s difficult, but the creator of that game wasn’t necessarily- or perhaps in the future won’t be- aiming for that. In an interview with Metro, he was quoted as saying he wants his games to be “satisfying rather than difficult”, and that he is considering adding an “Easy” mode to accomplish this. Here are some words from him:
“I suppose gamers do not particularly prefer easy games. What they want is interesting and worthwhile games to play, so I think it is natural that hindrance or stress that does not attribute to such interesting and worthwhile elements will be removed in the end. If the number of easy games is increasing nowadays, I guess it is because difficulty is not related to interesting and worthwhile game elements in many games among players.” – Hidetaka Miyazaki
Thoughts on this? It seems Dark Souls 2 was just hard for the sake of being hard. I hope Bloodborne balances the 2.

2 RespuestasDoes any proper souls player realy think any of the souls games are hard? I sure its a myth by casuals lol i dont love the souls game because its "hard" its the free flowing combat with a large range of armour/weapons/spells/pyromanys/miracles for character building, having kickass duels in pvp and the awesome locations, i know this is a bit of a rant but i hate the "hard" stigmata on the souls series when its not realy that hard the strongest enemy you can face is another player or gravity lol

2 RespuestasEditado por SLlIK: 8/17/2014 12:23:37 PMDark Souls 1 is a fantastic game that just happens to be hard Dark Souls 2 is a game that was built to be hard because, well; "Dark Souls is hard". In the end it suffered from this as DS1 is arguably a better game.

1 RespuestaAs long as the game is fun I don't care. He creates amazing game universes. I don't see him making it easier though. It's a cult hit because of its difficulty.

no don't become a casul miyazaki come on you are better then that scrub

4 RespuestasI don't see how adding an easy mode for the slow learners would effect me and my experience or that of Soul series vets. The players that enjoy the game on it's original setting would naturally play it on that setting.

3 Respuestas75% of the games satisfaction comes from difficulty. I don't think the fans will get what they want, and I don't think he will achieve this.

Anytime you create something from an HONEST place, you want people to enjoy it. If I'm playing music, I want to connect with the listerners on a gut level. Not just impress them with how fast and cleanly I can play. If you make a game ridiculously hard, you limit its accessibility to people. Yes, you'll make a small number of people who have time to grind away at the game for hours and hours despite little progress and little feedback as to how to avoid failure... ...but most people---espeically adult gamers whose gaming time is precious---will eventually just say "enough"...and go play something else. So I see no problem with an "easy" mode if it doesnt' interfere with the larger vision of the game, and the story it is telling. ...and in a video game you can only tell that story if people can master the gameplay enough to actually get through it.
-
If normal mode is the normal Dark Souls difficulty, there should be no reason to complain about the existence of an easy mode. Just don't play on it if you don't like it.
-
I.... I think I need to go cry now. All has been lost. There is no more hope.
-
Both games were hard, and made me give up mid game, create another character and finally finish months later....but I wouldn't change anything

Editado por Xenoes: 8/17/2014 3:17:19 AMThe first and second games were difficult but, if you actually practiced and learned the mechanics of the game it wasn't that hard really. Just a lot of failures and learning from them. Its not a game where you can pick it up and beat it in a few days. The game took dedication to master. And IMO I would rather have a game that will take time to master and actually make me feel accomplished when I get to a certain point in the game because of how difficult it was. Dark souls 1 and 2 gave me that feeling on a consistent basis. I've rarely had games do that since my skill increased when I got older. I would feel a lot better dropping $60 on a game I know will actually challenge me and will take time to complete rather than spending the same on a game I'll beat in 10 hours and was barely challenged. Sure for some simplicity and low difficulty level are a big attractor and in some cases depending on the time I have to sit down and play I'll go for something like that but, I love a challenge when it comes to gaming. Especially when I see or hear a large group of people having issues with a game or area. I love a challenge.

I do not count on him adding an easy mode. Miyazaki is aiming now for a satisfying achievement but without such high rage inducing penalties to keep people from playing.

4 RespuestasEditado por Toa Axis: 8/16/2014 7:46:36 PMThey said the same thing with Dark Souls 2 and everyone flipped out, yet it ended up being even harder than Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, but for the wrong reasons. As soon as there was an Achievement/Trophy for your first death I already new that they lost the plot. People need to realize that the Souls games aren't good because of their difficulty. It's part of their appeal, but not why they're good. Besides he already said that he's aiming for the difficulty that Demon's Souls presented. No biggie.

Nooooooooo!!!

This is just another game that has to drop the difficulty because casual's refuse to play it. What else is new?
-
Oh lawdy, this isn't going to go down well.
