I'll go ahead and carry it out to the extreme. A religiously led government, with that religion being set as Christianity. Every law would be matched to biblical law, every punishment biblical.
No poll, post below if you would or would not support this. And no simple Constitutional arguments. The theocracy would be doing away with that.

Nope. And I would fight to keep it from becoming so, literally and figuratively.

Editado por carpet brain: 8/13/2014 4:38:45 PMIf it was actual Christianity and not this spew of slime and hate people like the WBC make Christianity out to be, I guess that'd be alright. But you also said Biblical punishment, which is pretty extreme for a modern society like our own.

4 RespuestasI would be happy if at least 50% of America knew what theocracy meant.
-
15 RespuestasCorrect me if I'm wrong but didn't the Founding Fathers found the US to escape just that?
-
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion
It wouldn't be America any more.
-
I would move. And then return with an army and overthrow that atrocity. It would be good for population control though lol, imagine how many mass executions there would be
-
No I wouldn't be happy with that. I'm not American so correct me if I'm wrong but I think that america was founded on the principle of being able to practice your religion and not be judged. I think. So that would anger some people. Possibly to the point of rebellion

I'm a Christian and I would not like this, to a degree. The problem with theocracy/communism/dictatorships is that they want to control every detail of your life. Government should only control actions that hurt/harm/etc other people. A Christian Theocracy would probably ban video games/tv/movies that they didn't like. Just like they did many years ago and it's the same thing happening in a North Korea, China, etc. A Constitutional Republic (U.S.A.) is the best form of government... If you can keep it.

I'd run to Canada as quickly as I could because I know I'd be stoned to death for heresy.

I'd be out of here in an instant

3 RespuestasYeah, cause I'm English lol. I -blam!-in' hate Americans! xD

I see what you're doing here.
Israel
Considering I'd probably be lynched for being an atheist? I'm going to say I would not support that.
-
Would be completely against this. I support secular laws for society. It's a lot easier to convince people to lay out laws to support other humans in the name of preserving our own species than it is to convince people to follow lows according to a religion they won't necessarily believe in.

As a Catholic myself, I woild have to say no to the situation you presented, but if it was in direct relation with the Pope/Vatican it could work.
