The answer is simple. Ps4. Not because of fanboy reasons, and not because one exclusive over the other. The reason is simple and two fold. First is design. Ps4 is designed for gaming and it's community. Period. You can have all the tv stuff if you want on it, but in the end, it's purely designed for gaming. The U.I is more intuitive and easy to navigate.
Second is longevity. Both systems have virtually the same specs, the difference is utilization of these specs. In order for the xbox 1 to do what it does, it uses three operating systems at once (to play games and tv at the same time, ect). However operating systems eat Ram. That's why right out of the gate xbox one is having issues with 1080 p 60 FPS. There's not enough memory. Now earlier on a console generation it doesn't usually matter for the first couple years, but as games get more detailed and diverse ( and this console generation suppose to last 10 years according to both companies) they will have to start pulling from the multiple running apps to accommodate the higher memory demands ( they already released a patch for their kinnect to be used less by the xbox to give it more memory to use for games. 10% they said. That's in the first year alone! ). Either that or you will eventually see game developers mandating certain features be turned off while a game is running.
In short, to get the most long term bang for your buck, go with a ps4. I loved my 360, but so far, ps4 has won this console generation.

Absolutely. The Xbox One will have to be upgraded to a new version of the system before you know it. The PS4 (like PS3) will be just as effective for the entire lifecycle, even if they release their newer versions, like a "slim", you'll be just fine with the original PS4. You can quote me on this, the Xbox One will be obsolete compared to any upcoming "XB1 Pro" or "XB1 Slim", you'll be all-but-forced to upgrade if you want to keep playing games in 2-3 years.

From personal experience, the Xbox one is not user friendly at all... But I still enjoy it and wouldn't mind getting a ps4 later down the road.
-
I hope I have an Xbox One some day.

Firmly agreed. Traded my XB1 for a PS4 awhile back and I am glad. Xbox1 sucks party chat, servers and even my friends went PS4 with me. Wasn't hard to convince them either XD.

Man you had the same experience I had. We were talking the xbox one up, but then we hated the party chat and overall display. One of us were like you know we can trade in our xbox one for like 325 bucks. Then boom 5 trade ins the next day.

Half of the information posted in your essay is fanboy speech and false. Both systems have their pros and cons.
this console generation suppose to last 10 years according to both companies.
Microsoft have stated a 10 year lifecycle. Sony have stated that it will be 'significantly shorter'.

Editado por GalaxySpider: 8/6/2014 9:19:24 AMThe U.I. is indeed faster and more intuitive to navigate. That's what I really hate about the ONE: the OS is sooo damn slow and everything, from opening messages to looking at your friendslist, takes sometimes more than 4 or 5 seconds, which is annoying and totally not next-gen for a system which is supposed to be the successor. I have both systems but actually no games for the ONE except for some digital stuff from the marketplace. PS4 is also my main system and maybe I will sell my ONE later... Both systems are great and have great games, no one can deny that, and I was an Xbox (gold) gamer for more than 8 years now. But I found my PS4 pretty comfortable and better to play on/with.

One of the main reasons I went with the PS4 Destiny bundle. Instead of buying it for my Xbox one.
