So all through the Beta I had my suspicions that with the "Level Advantages Disabled" label on every one of the PVP options was going to mean that in fact all PVP was "level playing field" but I really hope it wouldn't be. Well, it looks like my worst fear has come to life according to the recent IGN interview that basically says all PVP modes will not use your gear so everyone is on a level playing field and "events" like the iron banner will unlock and let you use your gear.
Am I the only one who thinks this is insanely lame? I'm going to build my character up earning PVP marks and grinding endlessly to unlock the best gear and I can't even use it until Bungie opens up a special event? Wouldn't it just make more sense to have the option to play either or mode?
I fell in love with Guild Wars 2 but the moment I tried PVP and realized your gear didn't matter I immediately quit playing. If I can only actually use my amazing gear in PVP but once a week, or however often Bungie feels like, I think I might end up doing the same thing with Destiny. =/
For those of you who can't read. Im not saying all pvp should utilize your gear. Im saying we should be given the option of playing with level advantages enabled OR disabled at all times instead of having to wait for Bungies "events". Get it?
EDIT: Yes, the only thing that is "leveled out" is the amount of damage the a weapon does. All the stats like disc, strength etc and the perks will supposedly be enabled. Even still, there should be the option to play with your weapon damage and defense ratings enabled....at all times.
Additionally, if anything this "level advantages disabled" concept is really misleading since the stats and perks of those weapons will still be enabled. A level 10 still doesn't stand a chance against a level 20 with end game gear so if anything this stupid system is going to create more problems than it solves.
There should be two modes
A: No gear, no stat and no level advantages
B: All gear, all stats and level advantages
Why? Because people are going to think they can actually just jump into a PVP match at a lower level because "Level advantages are disabled" when really they're going up against players who have 100% grenade cooldown reduction, 20 levels of skill points unlocked and insane weapon perks like "Instantly reloads upon kill."
This system is anything but a level playing field.

Regular PVP your level & gear stats (not gear abilities) are irrelevant, but in Iron Banner your level & gear will make a big difference.
-
There most likely will be a full time playlist with level advantages on. and many gear stats and upgrades will still apply, such as cooldown reduction from your armor and weapon upgrades like "the bottom half of the magazine deals bonus damage" etc.
-
Don't stats from armour carry over? The side benefits like discipline and boost to certain guns. Which CAN give players with better gear an advantage. Especially if someones using an exotic weapon meanwhile someones using a common weapon. But there won't be any 1 hit kill long range with an assault rifle due to level differences happening.

Editado por GriffinRSX: 7/31/2014 9:25:45 PMLet me clear this a little, your attack and defense stat is the ONLY thing disabled in the normal crucible, so level 20s don't pound on level 5s. Your special gear effects and stat bars go into the crucible, making your really cool exotic auto rifle worth bringing to the crucible.
-
I think the "events" will be frequent enough you'll get your fix. << my guess In the meantime, I believe your gun stats still matter so thats a plus.
-
Gear defence and stuff like that may be leveled out but not the fears effect. Think about when you het exotics that let you recover health on melee hits or a sniper rifle that gives you active camo. That stuff will play big roles in the crucible.
-
I hope there is a permanent game mode that has stat advantages enabled.
-
I completely, completely agree. Okay, what would it hurt to have separate servers/playlists, maybe only one or two with your gear enabled. That way all you kids complaining about the skill gap DON'T HAVE TO PLAY on these servers, and cry about getting trashed by people with better gear. You can play on your "level-playing fields" while the more inclined can play on the gear enabled servers. All I ask and all that's needed is one or two servers for this. However, I think both of the kinds of servers are pretty much necessary. It's just, I mean... Extremely discouraging to level up through the game and constantly play your ass off for better gear, only to find out that all it's good for is killing AI and bulldozing through the same levels and strikes over and over.. with the exception of the Iron Banner maybe once a friggin week.
-
Not everything is disabled; just the Impact and Attack values of weapons and the Defence value of armour. Everything else is as it looks. They aren't even disabled: they are evened out to present a more level playing field.
-
Your gear matters, but raw damage and defense doesn't. You still keep the perks.
-
Well, a level 20 can faceroll all the time vs a level 8 player. A level 20 player has much better abilitys + sick ubgrades on weapons and armors. Even in the beta, it was so easy to kill a level 5 player as level 8. You can play with 1 Hand vs this guys. For all that, who think a level 8 player is still a -blam!-ing Godzilla, play Iron Banner.
-
That is what Iron Banner is for. All your gear and level is what it is. The normal crucible is more about the strategy and the game.
-
The thing about the level advantages being turned off is exactly for what it's called, you have no advantages or disadvantages. It's just your skill versus another's skill. Of course there's the gun skills which are supposedly left on but the point is that it makes the game an even playing field for the most part. In the iron banner it was always annoying when I had people on my team who were under geared for their level or I felt bad if it was the same for the opposing team.
-
That is what the Iron Banner matches were about. In them, all the levelling stuff was turned off - you use what you have collected and fought for. And those likely will be the only game types I play in PvP. The nerfing in the regular PvP was not fun for me.
-
Special attributes on armor and weapons definitely carry over to crucible. Some of these, especially on high level gear seem to be pretty gamechanging. Other than that, I'd prefer winning because I'm better, rather than because I was able to grind a lot while others weren't.
-
It is kinda lame but not sure how low lvls would feel put against the wrath of a lv20+ and they will likely put you matched only with people the same lv as you which would definately be super lame and take longer to find a match.
-
I would like to see option, perhaps rotating hoppers with new game types and maps similar to Iron Banner but constantly available.
-
For balance purposes, yes for most Crucible matches, everyone is playing on a level field. Gear, Character levels, etc... will for all intents and purposes be the same, level-wise. This is so someone who has been playing Destiny for 8 hours can compete with someone who has been playing non-stop for a month. However, this is where events like the Iron Banner come in, where all level advantages are unlocked. During the Beta there were 10 events. Two each on the first Saturday and Sunday (during the Playstation exclusivity portion) and three events each on the final Friday and Saturday (during the open beta period). Unfortunately, one of the Saturday Iron Banner events ran concurrently with the opening of the locked Moon mission, so most players online had to choose between running the mission/exploring the moon or PVP'ing with full level/equipment advantages.
-
Wtf..why would they make it if your a level 20..with more then a hundred damage weapon.youll be two shotting these level ones that are playing online too..like what?
-
1 RespuestaWell if you're playing solely for PvP you're doing it wrong anyways, the best gear doesn't come from PvP.
-
I thought there would be one available daily
-
I totally agree, this turned me off a little for pvp,ill still play, but not as much there needs to b reg. Mode with level playing field, and real mode with gear actually matters
-
If you actually looked anything up about destiny during the beta you would see that for PvP it is level because that's what's fair. But with the iron banner the stats on your fun and hear matter!!!
-
6 RespuestasYour gear may be irrelevant but I believe it's abilitys aren't like if u grind for that exotic sniper rifle that makes u go invisible when scoping then u will be invisible while scoping in PvP. I'm not 100% sure on this tho
-
9 RespuestasSay you join crucible... Guy on other team has end game equipment because he hardcores everyday where as you a casual gamer is still mid lvl with average loot You seriously want balancing disabled in the most basic form of pvp on destiny so you can get ones shot killed from a 300 dps hand cannon ??? Seriously?? How has your brain not contemplated the insane proportions of unbalanced matches there would be... Killing pvp for everyone I can't even think of a way to combat this thread... It's so absurd it hurts my brain... I'm done ...

I agree that there should be a constant game mode with level-enabled. At least you can pwn others with all the bonuses your better gear gives you, though.
